My ceiling fan was making a squeeking sound when turned on. My husband said we needed rubber bands that they sell to put around the base of the light fixture. The originals ones had dryrotted which caused the squeeking. I promply hand him 1/4 inch rubber bands that I had in my "junk drawer". Wala !! No more squeeking ceiling fan.
