After a family dinner and you have lots of leftovers, sending food home with others can be real chore. You will need locate enough containers to put everything in. What we've started doing is using different size baggies. That way no one has to return a container either. Of course cake would still need to go on a paper plate, but the baggies work wonderful for corn, green bean, turkey and dressing, etc.

My Mamaw used to wash up & sterilize the styrofoam trays that raw ground beef came on. She'd used those for putting cake slices on to freeze. They worked well with plastic wrap so you could see thru it.

You can always tell family members to bring their own containers to take food home. As for the cake- take two plates, put the cake on one and turn the other upside down over the top of the cake and then place in a large bag. This works great. If you worry about the icing sticking to the plate on top, cover the cake with wax paper before putting the "lid" on it. If Chinet plates are used then you won't have to worry with the icing sticking. Have fun sharing

I also save food tubs throughout the year (whipped topping, margarine, etc) for occasions such as this.
