I have been using a tomato sauce can with both ends cut out for years. (Can you still cut ot both ends?) LOL
Works good to cut up boiled eggs and soft veggies, too!

My Mother always used the open end of a drinking glass. She did the same thing when she made doughnuts and when she got ready to drop them in the grease, she pinched a hole in the middle with her thumb and finger.
