GOOEY BUNS
1 lb. bologna (or Spam)
3/4 lb. American cheese (like Velveeta)
1/3 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
1/4 cup prepared yellow mustard
2 tbsp. sweet pickle relish or chopped sweet pickle
1 tbsp. finely minced onion
12 hot dog buns
butter
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Grind or finely chop bologna and cheese. Stir in mayonnaise, mustard, pickle, and onion; mix well.
Cut hot dog buns open, spread with butter, then the filling.
Wrap each bun in foil.
Heat in slow oven at 325 degrees F for 25 minutes.
Makes 12

We called these "Hot Diggity Dogs". Chopped hot dogs, hard boiled eggs, relish and cheese. Put on hot dog buns, wrap in foil and heat in oven until hot. We never measured. We just added ingredients to taste.
Filled Buns # 2
2 dozen hot dog buns
1 1/2 lb american cheese
2 cans of chopped black olives
1 4oz can diced green chilies
1 chopped onion
3 chopped hard boiled eggs
1 can diced pimentos
2 cloves garlic minced
1 jar chili sauce.
Mix together and put on buns, wrap in foil cook until hot inside
We used to take these camping and heat on the fire grill.
This is my favorite one!
I have two, one is Filled Buns
1/2lb american cheese
4 hard boiled eggs, chopped
4 hot dogs, ground
1 can chopped olives
salt, minced onions, minced pimento.
Mix together, put in hot dog buns moisten with mayo, wrap in foil and bake for 15 min, at 350.

Gooey Buns
Cheap, simple salad for sandwiches. I don't ever remember eating it on buns, but for some reason we always call it gooey buns? Sometimes I run the pickles through the food processor, other times I just chop it myself. I think that this recipe came from my Grandma, but I'm not sure The serving size is just a guess.
Ingredients
* 1 lb ham
* 2 pickles (or 1/2 cup relish)
* 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
* 1/2-3/4 cup mayonnaise
* 2 tablespoons mustard
Directions
Dice ham and pickles.
Mix all ingredients well, adjusting the amount of mayo to your taste. If desired, chill to allow flavors to meld. Serve on bread or buns - great for brown bags / picnics.
