I went and tried lighter fluid. Got crayon of like a miracle worker. HOWEVER, I immediately went and grabbed the toothpaste. IT TOOK OFF EVERYTHING and didn't even fudge a single section of the paint. I didnt even have to scrub with it! I SO have a project for the girls when they get off the bus *evil laugh*

OMG, Thanks you guys so much. Toothpaste who would have thought. I have spent so much money on the magic eraser, goo gone and even paint to get the crayon and makers and pen off of the wall. However the toothpaste doesn't work for the pen neither does hair spray. Again thank you to all of you who know that toothpaste would work. I was super shocked when I read it I got right up and tried it and was in AWE at the results. The magic eraser doesn't hold a candle to good old fashion toothpaste. :-) ~Mother of a creative 2yr Toddler

You are right! I read a lot about removing crayon on other sites and the consensus was that WD-40 does the trick. I am not big on using harsh chemicals. I got on this website and read about the toothpaste. I used an abrasive, wet sponge and toothpaste to remove red (non-washable) crayon from white walls. It worked like a dream. My arm is a little tired, but it was worth the work!

I had red crayon marks all over our hallway wall and I used the toothpaste and toothbrush in circular motion. It took me about 20 minutes, but the crayon marks came right off. It worked perfectly. Thank you so much for the tip.

I tried toothpaste - I'm almost out of grownup toothpaste, so I used the kid's toothpaste on a semi-gloss wall with a washcloth, and it came up beautifully.

The toothpaste worked well, the baking soda not as well and it took some paint off a little cause I had to use more elbow grease. But the toothpaste was just like wiping it off and now the room smells minty, bonus I guess for a babies room.

I just tried the baking soda, it worked great AND it's environmentally friendly! : ) FYI: Mayonnaise works great for getting crayon off windows and other glass.

i have another odd remedy that is working for my daughters. the toothpaste worked but not near as fast as what my girls are using right this minute to take the crayon and dry erase marker off my walls. A regular pencil eraser, we are using the ones that are rectangular in shape, and it's working just like you'd erase pencil from paper.hth

I used WD 40 and then cleaned the oil from it with hot water and Dawn dish detergent on a towel. My wall looks like new and none of the paint came off.

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

try rubbing alcohol it works great for any stains-- even sharpie on wood or counters be careful on certain types of paint--it can take off the glossyness (08/04/2007)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

Mr Clean Magic Eraser will take it off every time. (08/07/2007)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

I'll add my vote to magic eraser. I love that thing. Tip- Cut it into smaller pieces if you are doing smaller jobs. Getting wet seems to use it up faster, so just use a small piece at a time. I do this with scrubbing pads too. I tend to throw them away after a certain amount of time no matter how big, so halving them stretches them a lot. (08/09/2007)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

Try Mr Clean magic erasers. They don't take off the paint. You may have to use a little muscle to get it off. (08/12/2007)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

My mother has gone on and on about the Magic Eraser for a while, and yes, I've seen the commercial, but not until night before last did I use it. We have very, very old and papery wall paper in one of our rooms and there was crayon on the wall and the back of a door when we moved in! I never wanted to even try to get the crayon off the paper for fear it would just disintigrate. I tried the Magic Eraser on the back of the door... and it just WIPED OFF! so. I tried it on the paper, and again, no muscle, nothing. it just WIPED right off! We are in the process of getting our house ready to go on the market now. I went out and bought 10 boxes! They make them in a mop head too! (08/13/2007)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

I tried EVERYTHING I don't know what kind of paint is on the walls nothing was working. I followed all the suggestions from others going through the same thing. So following a suggestion from a good friend I got out the clorox bleach, dawn dish washing liquid and a scrub pad the one with yellow soft side and green scrub side. Using the green scrub side I put dawn and sprayed the beautiful art work created by my 9 year old autistic son with straight bleach. wiped and glory be it worked! I had to use a little elbow grease on some of the black and red colors which I didn't mind because it helped me exercise my giggly arms. 2 great results..Try it..bleach, dawn and a scrub pad and a great work out for your arms. RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

My almost 2yr old daughter marked with crayon all over my walls! I tried everything, and it just didn't work. I put a bowl of water with some Lava hand soap shavings and put it into the microwave until HOT. I dipped a washcloth into the hot water and started scrubbing. THANK GOODNESS this worked! A damp cloth with baking soda will take crayon off your walls. Don't rub hard! Just rub gently and firmly until the stain comes off. By Robin

Removing Crayon Marks

Crayon marks on walls? This worked wonderfully! A damp rag, dipped in baking soda. Comes off with little effort! By Chell (03/04/2005)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

Use Zippo lighter fluid or any lighter fluid that is on sale.

Put a little lighter fluid on a paper napkin and wipe off the crayon mark.

It takes crayon marks off blackboards, walls (painted as well as wallpapered), computers, wood floors, and toys.

I have found baking soda can scratch surfaces and takes paint off the wall. Irma (b)(/b) (03/18/2005)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

Baking soda and water kind of worked to remove the crayon marks. But it also took off some of the paint (flat paint). Try toothpaste on a toothbrush-awesome! (01/05/2006)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

Toothpaste and toothbrush work liked magic. Took everything off without damage to my walls. I tried the baking soda with a damp cloth and it didn't work half as well or as fast as the toothpaste did. It also took some paint off my walls when I used the baking soda method. I know what to use next time. (01/15/2006)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

If you catch your child in the act.. you can use a regular SOS pad and water. The toothpaste and the baking soda didn't seem to work. (01/15/2006)

WOW toothpaste and a toothbrush really does work I was very shocked. I thought i would never get it off without having to repaint. Thanks! (02/03/2006)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

Toothpaste did the trick. It worked great. Baking soda didn't work for me. It took off the paint and still didn't remove the crayon. Now I will always use toothpaste when my little one decides she wants to use my walls as paper with her crayons. (03/01/2006)

Removing Crayon From Walls

I used the lighter fluid, as previously suggested, it worked, but I ran out. So I thought about using some oil lamp fluid, and it worked just as well. Our wall paint is somewhat glossy, this may not work well on no-gloss/flat paint which be too porous, (08/15/2006)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls

To make the toothpaste method work, just put it on with your fingers and rub it it in a little, not all the way though! After that just leave it on for about 5-10 minutes. Last, just use the toothbrush in circular motions and wipe it off. (08/17/2006)

I just tried the magic eraser pad, the new white ones. Wow, worked like a charm with no elbow grease. i hadn't really figured out what those things could be used for since they're rather fragile, but for crayon marks, Wow! (11/20/2006)
