Using Hot Air and Baby Oil
Soften the crayon by blowing hot air on it with a hair dryer, then wipe with a clean cloth with a little baby oil on it. Works great!

RE: Cleaning Crayon off Walls
I've used the foamy shaving cream on tables and the like to clean up crayon so I'm sure it would work on walls as well. I've also heard it works great for most carpet stains and the like. (01/25/2006)

My daughter has 2 young children and crayons have also been a problem for her. She bought the Mr. Clean Eraser Sponges. It worked great! It's made for things that have pitted surfaces like some vinyl-coated refrigerators or plastered walls. I have used it on my leather couch and it worked wonderfully. (01/26/2006)

A damp cloth with baking soda will take crayon off your walls. Don't rub hard! Just rub gently and firmly until the stain comes off.

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls
Use Zippo lighter fluid or any lighter fluid that is on sale.
Put a little lighter fluid on a paper napkin and wipe off the crayon mark.
It takes crayon marks off blackboards, walls (painted as well as wallpapered), computers, wood floors, and toys.
I have found baking soda can scratch surfaces and takes paint off the wall.

Baking soda and water kind of worked to remove the crayon marks. But it also took off some of the paint (flat paint). Try toothpaste on a toothbrush-awesome! (01/05/2006)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls
Toothpaste and toothbrush work liked magic. Took everything off without damage to my walls. I tried the baking soda with a damp cloth and it didn't work half as well or as fast as the toothpaste did. It also took some paint off my walls when I used the baking soda method. I know what to use next time. (01/15/2006)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls
Toothpaste did the trick. It worked great. Baking soda didn't work for me. It took off the paint and still didn't remove the crayon. Now I will always use toothpaste when my little one decides she wants to use my walls as paper with her crayons. (03/01/2006)

Removing Crayon From Walls
I used the lighter fluid, as previously suggested, it worked, but I ran out. So I thought about using some oil lamp fluid, and it worked just as well. Our wall paint is somewhat glossy, this may not work well on no-gloss/flat paint which be too porous, (08/15/2006)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls
To make the toothpaste method work, just put it on with your fingers and rub it it in a little, not all the way though! After that just leave it on for about 5-10 minutes. Last, just use the toothbrush in circular motions and wipe it off. (08/17/2006)

I just tried the magic eraser pad, the new white ones. Wow, worked like a charm with no elbow grease. i hadn't really figured out what those things could be used for since they're rather fragile, but for crayon marks, Wow! (11/20/2006)

Mr Clean Magic Eraser will take it off every time. (08/07/2007)
RE: Removing Crayon From Walls
I'll add my vote to magic eraser. I love that thing. Tip- Cut it into smaller pieces if you are doing smaller jobs. Getting wet seems to use it up faster, so just use a small piece at a time. I do this with scrubbing pads too. I tend to throw them away after a certain amount of time no matter how big, so halving them stretches them a lot.

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls
My mother has gone on and on about the Magic Eraser for a while, and yes, I've seen the commercial, but not until night before last did I use it. We have very, very old and papery wall paper in one of our rooms and there was crayon on the wall and the back of a door when we moved in! I never wanted to even try to get the crayon off the paper for fear it would just disintigrate. I tried the Magic Eraser on the back of the door... and it just WIPED OFF! so. I tried it on the paper, and again, no muscle, nothing. it just WIPED right off! We are in the process of getting our house ready to go on the market now. I went out and bought 10 boxes! They make them in a mop head too! (08/13/2007)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls
I tried EVERYTHING I don't know what kind of paint is on the walls nothing was working. I followed all the suggestions from others going through the same thing. So following a suggestion from a good friend I got out the clorox bleach, dawn dish washing liquid and a scrub pad the one with yellow soft side and green scrub side. Using the green scrub side I put dawn and sprayed the beautiful art work created by my 9 year old autistic son with straight bleach. wiped and glory be it worked! I had to use a little elbow grease on some of the black and red colors which I didn't mind because it helped me exercise my giggly arms. 2 great results..Try it..bleach, dawn and a scrub pad and a great work out for your arms. My almost 2yr old daughter marked with crayon all over my walls! I tried everything, and it just didn't work. I put a bowl of water with some Lava hand soap shavings and put it into the microwave until HOT. I dipped a washcloth into the hot water and started scrubbing. THANK GOODNESS this worked! RE: Removing Crayon From Walls
I have another odd remedy that is working for my daughters. The toothpaste worked, but not nearly as fast as what my girls are using right this minute to take the crayon and dry erase marker off my walls. A regular pencil eraser, we are using the ones that are rectangular in shape, and it's working just like you'd erase pencil from paper. (01/15/2008)

Removing Crayon From Walls
How do I remove crayon from my flat painted walls?
By Donna from Garfield, NJ
RE: Removing Crayon From Walls
Flat paint is generally not washable unless you or the previous home owner purchased a high quality washable flat.
You can try using dish soap and water or TSP to clean the walls, but the chances of it coming off and not damaging the paint are slim. You should prime that part of the wall with Bin primer by Zinsser and then repaint that wall. (11/30/2009)

RE: Removing Crayon From Walls
When my son drew on my wall with crayon, I cleaned it with vinegar and baking soda. I simply filled a spray bottle with white distilled vinegar and sprayed generously on the stain. Then put some baking soda on the scour side of a sponge and scrub. I have beige walls and the crayon came right off without damaging the paint. (12/01/2009)
