Try watching the originial Miracle on 34th Street (I think thats the right name its been years) and then take the theme and ideas about the movie and use your local mainstreet in place. I think the movie was about xmas wishes including a home. So maybe you could use a local historical home for this part. I hope this helps you.

Why not use the original Christmas? Have a sign saying, "Main Street, Bethlehem" and then a depiction of the first Christmas? Depending on the number of people you have participating, and room on the float, in addition to Mary and Joseph and the baby Jesus, you could have shepherds and angels and maybe some large stuffed animals (or real ones). No kings, though; they didn't come for about two years after Jesus' birth (Lk. 2:1-14).
What greater miracle is there than God coming to earth as a baby, growing, teaching and eventually willfully dying so that we, when we repent of our sin and believe and trust Him as our Lord and Savior, can have our sins forgiven and look forward to living with Him in heaven? That's Christmas!!!
