Wildlife: Vibrant Purple Starfish (Sunset Beach, OR)

I found this starfish while beach hopping with my husband near Sunset Beach here on the Oregon Coast. We love to hit up Sunset, hike the trails above the beach, and create our own journey from there. When straying from the beaten path, one can find many private shores. If you're brave enough to scale down the rocks, sometimes needing to tie a rope to a nearby tree, to be there to help you down the rest of the way, and, eventually, back up again!

This particular starfish was one of many found that day. We'd found our own shore, just to then explore the rocks, which we found led to many rocks and rough paths from there. Eventually, we found a long, flat area of rock with many pools and crevices. That's where these beauties were!

If you are ever on the Oregon Coast, I highly recommend hiking any of the trails of Sunset Beach. You're always sure to find an adventure!
