Old House Problems: How to Keep Windows from Sticking

We have a very old cottage house, and it has the windows that are so old, they stick so badly. What are some thoughts or ideas from any of you that have dealt with this problem?

I would think since this works for drawers that it might work for windows. Try a light coating of candle wax by rubbing it along the inside window tracks.
