Ok, AOL - make my day. Send me as much CDs as you like. I can now use those Jewel Cases you send. (I know other uses for those CDs too - but that is another article). And if AOL is not the culprit but that other person who lives in your house who wants to put all the CDs in an album-like container, leaving those CD Jewel Cases behind - craving to be placed into the trash can...cry no more! Here is a great way to transform them into lovely decorations or frames.

Evan's Animal Birthday Cake
I didn't want to do a commercial cartoon party theme for my son's second birthday, so since he loves animals, I chose that as the theme. This is the birthday cake that our friend Erin made for my son. It was adorable! She used frosting to decorate animal crackers with details (stripes on the tigers, etc.), and pretzel rods with green frosting on top as palm trees. It was a great party, and everyone loved the cake.

This is a lily that I bought 2 years ago. I don't remember the name of it, but it grows really well here in Louisiana. I have separated it often, sharing it with family and friends and planting in other flower beds in the yard. I took this picture at night of the flowers on one stalk.

Homemade recipes for weed killers that work. Post your ideas.
Weed Killing in the Garden
Instead of using chemicals such as RoundUp to kill out weeds and grasses, use vinegar in your lawn sprayer. It's enviromental friendly. Remember that it will kill the plants and flowers that you love also. Spray a fine mist and only on days when it's calm and not going to rain.

My daughter was married outside in our yard last weekend. Since the wedding was outside she realized that candles would not stay lit. Instead of lighting unity candles, symbolizing 2 lives joining together unto one, she bought bath salts and some food coloring and made her own "sand" colors. She added a few drops of blue food coloring to one bowl of white bath crystals and mixed it well, turning the white crystals to a baby blue color. To the other bowl of white bath salts she added green food coloring and made a light green color.
After signing the wedding papers the happy couple went to the pedestal holding the 2 glasses with colored salts and gently poured each into one cut glass bowl mixing the colors of salts, symbolizing the 2 lives joining into one.
Side benefit, she now has food coloring in her new home! But I don't think that she will have a bath with the extra blue and green bath salts ... she may come out that color too? :)

Menu Assignment Dinner Party Idea
Invite some of your good friends over for a casual dinner. Upon their arrival, pair them up and give each couple an envelope with some money and their assignment (i.e. "buy the ingredients for a dessert, then come back and prepare it.") You might assign appetizers to everyone, taco fixings or menu categories (vegetables, salad, rolls, dessert or even beverages). The hostess would prepare the main course.
Half the fun will be getting the meal together and having fun in the kitchen coming up with a creative menu to serve. This idea is derived from "Home is Where the Heart is" (Daysbrings by Garborg's, Inc.)
I thought of an idea to go along with this idea, have one person purchase some flowers for the table and create a pretty centerpiece for the table.

Reusing Disposable Bath Washcloths
If you use the new disposable baby bath washcloths or mitts (like Huggies Bath Mitts), why not recycle them instead of throwing them away? They're usually sturdy enough to rinse out--spray a little of your favorite cleaning solution on them, then use to wipe down the tub & shower area, or even the counters, sink, or whatever you want to clean. You can toss them after that, but at least you got one more use out of them, and didn't have to waste any paper towels!

The barber where my husband used to get his hair cut got way too expensive so we decided to go out and buy our own clippers and now I cut his hair. The clippers were not expensive (purchased at Wal-Mart) and they also came with instructions on how to use them and cut his hair!

I'm trying to lose a few pounds and shape up, but am on a tight budget! Instead of paying extra money for the new individual sized "100 calorie" bag snacks, what I do is buy a box of my favorite snack food. When I get home, I grab some snack sized baggies, then put a 100-120 calorie serving in each bag. (For example, 16 of my favorite crackers are 120 calories).
I usually do this with a few different varieties (crackers, pretzels, mini cookies, etc.), then put the baggies in a larger container. When I want a snack, I just go grab a bag of whatever snack I feel like having! It's already portioned out, so I don't have to worry that I'll overindulge.

What Can You Do With Leftover Herbs?
I buy herbs at the supermarket that come in bunches like mint, parsley etc. and I end up needing only a little bit of it. What I started doing is chop up the rest and stuff it into ice cube trays and top off with water, covering the cube filled with parsley. Once the cubes freeze up I keep them stored until I need some parsley. Just remeber bag and label what herb you're freezing!

Refrigerator Not Maintaining Temperature During the Day
Our Refrigerator seems to be not working well. At night, the temp is around 4C. But during day time, it is hovering around 10C to 12C. What could be the problem? Is is 15 years old. Is it worth it to fix it or should I go for a new one.

Can't Locate the Source of a Terrible Smell In My Home
I have a terrible smell in my house and I can't find it! A few days ago we noticed a smell (like a dead animal or sour milk) in our den but could not pinpoint a 'spot'. You just get a trace of it as you move around. It now seems to have moved to more areas downstairs and also upstairs.
It's not the disposal, dishwasher, trash or a rotten potato. It's not coming from the toilets or sinks. It's not the air conditioning vents. We can't find anything under the den furniture or cushions. My kids complain that I'm too clean but even they are complaining about the stench!
We don't have indoor pets and it's not a cat spray type of smell. It seems to be everywhere at different times but we can't find THE SPOT. We have central air, gas heat and hot water, a neighborhood well and sewer. We are the only owners of this home and have been here for 17 years. We have a crawl space but I couldn't get the door open. I plan to have my husband go under there and also check the fireplace when he gets back in town (our chimney cap blew off last week).
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Ann

I have a 5 year old dog and she has been great. Until this past weekend she has been peeing on the couch. Since Saturday and Sunday she has peed on the couch at least 5 times. I don't know if it is a behavior or medical problem. I would take her out to pee and she would pee on the stairs before we would make it to the grass.
The only logical thing to me is that my boyfriend and I were arguing and maybe she feels what I am feeling and is peeing because she is emotionally stressed. Another incident she peed on my father and my dad helped me raise her when she was a pup. She always warmed up great to my dad when he would come over until my sister bought a new dog. I am not sure what it is because it could me a number of things. Please help me...
