Poppy Seed Bread I
Ingredients
- Beat 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 cup plus 2 Tbsp. oil
- 2 1/4 cups sugar
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. poppy seeds
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 tsp. butter flavoring
- 1 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
Directions
Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees F. Makes 2 loaves. When done and still warm, I mix 1/4 cup orange juice and 1/4 cup powdered sugar and pour over the bread. (Lightly - not too much).

Poppy Seed Bread II
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup oil
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 cup poppy seeds
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup evaporated milk
Directions
Beat eggs, sugar and oil and mix well. Add vanilla and poppy seeds. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add to above mixture alternately with evaporated milk. Bake in 2 greased and floured loaf pans at 325 degrees F for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes. Remove from pans and cool on wire rack. Yield: 2 loaves.
