I see the bags inside cereal boxes are popular! I save them and use them when pounding chicken for chicken cutlets or chicken Picata. The bags are really sturdy and never tear.

I also try not to use plastic wrap. To reheat in microwave, just put smaller amounts in bowls with a small plate over, for larger, use larger bowl and dinner plate. I often put a second plate under the bowl for safer removal; don't want to drop when hot.

Because of the cancer causing concerns I have switched to glass containers with lids. It's reusable and you don't have plastic touching your food.

RE: Saving Money on Plastic Wrap
I've been trying to fix meals that are just the right amount for our family of 4 and then either no leftovers to pack up or very little. I prefer to pack leftovers in a pyrex or corning dish with lid and then it's ready to be re-heated.
I had the package of plastic bowl covers in different sizes but it just seemed hard to keep up with them and so many of them were tiny sized and I found I needed more of the bigger ones. I didn't really like having to spend time washing them either.
I just think putting leftovers in a microwave safe dish that has a glass lid is easier and only one item to wash, it can keep being resused so nothing to put in the trash either.
My plastic wrap usually lasts a long time.

I buy the food service sized rolls at Sysco and it lasts me for many years. It saves me money because I don't have to buy a roll every few weeks.

Our local dollar store (Dollar Castle) has a package of reusable bowl covers for just a dollar. It contains two each of several sizes. Great for those plates and bowls that are too small to use shower caps on.
