Have a student, loved one in senior care home, kinfolk or serviceman/woman, living away from home? Give them a subscription to the local newspaper. It gives them news from their local area.
I gave one to my nephew in Iraq. It is mailed to his service address in USA, then sent from there with his units mail. He and his buddies love it. It takes a while for him to get it, but he says they all look forward to getting it, however late.
