Preventing Tangled Thread

Use a dryer sheet to run a threaded needle through to prevent tangling thread.

Another solution, keep a white candle stub in your sewing kit. Pull the length of thread over it a few times before threading your needle. It stiffens and strengthens the thread, makes it easier to sew. Also, cut your threads a maximum of 18" long. Yes, you'll have to re-thread more often, but you will also avoid a lot of tangles.

When hand sewing, whether a button or whatever, take the thread and run through a bar of soap. It won't tangle and makes the thread stronger

Another cool idea is to sew with dental floss, but works best with small areas like buttons. Thanks for the tip. My gramma used to do this all the time.

Another thing that works is to run the thread tightly over a candle stub. Easy to keep one in your sewing kit.
