I too was concerned that you adopted her at 3 weeks. Thank goodness you knew how to take care of her so young. And good for you for giving a Katrina pup another chance. She's adorable.
"She's a beautiful dog but as a breeder, I can assure you that she was not 3 weeks old when you adopted her. A 3 week old pup is just barely getting up on shaky legs and still crawling for the most part. They would just be starting their first meal to eat soft foods and would still be nursing for the next few weeks. An animal shelter would not let a puppy go at this point and you would not be able to care for it. Why would you say such a thing?"
I would say such a thing because it is the truth. The vet informed us the day we adopted her she was entirely too young to be adopted out. He notified the humaine society of the issue and we were given the option to return her. However, that was not happening. She was a hurricane Katrina puppy who came in without a mother or siblings. We had already fallen in love with her first of all, and even if we had not already fallen for her we were afraid they would put her down if we took her back. We have fostered/raised animals before who had lost their mothers and with the help of our vet we were ready for the 24 hour care she required. She weighed less than 6 ounces and her eyes were barely opened the day we got her. She had to be dropper fed then bottle fed for the next three and a half weeks along with a Nutra-Cal suppliment. She could not maintan her body temperature and spent much time in the vet's warming bed and getting IV fluids. We almost lost her in the first 48 hours from dehydration and her body temperature dropping.

She is just darling and one lucky little spoiled dog. Sounds like our house with all the stuff animals all over. So nice you can take her on trips. You certainly are very proud of her. Thanks for writing about Frannie and telling us her story.
Frannie is darling! I know she is a source of great joy for you. Her thing about strewing her toys reminds me of my niece's pug, Magoo - he does the same thing. Thanks for sharing Frannie with us and God bless you.
