Fish Bowl Halloween Treat Bowl Fish bowl painted and used as Halloween candy bow. These type of fish-bowls can be found at thrift stores for next to nothing. I purchased this one at Goodwill for 75 cents. I hand-painted candy corn onto the glass with basic acrylic craft paint. I then sprayed the entire bowl with a sealing glaze and tied a bow around the top. Any type of glass bowl/jar can be painted and used as a holiday candy or snack bowl! By cali's mom from Albany, GA Editor's Tip: Make sure to clean used fish bowls really well before putting any food in them. Contest Contender!

Honey is a 3.5 month old Pekingese/Pomeranian. I got Honey through the classifieds online (never commercial pet store!) She likes to tear around, and just be a pup! She does smell like honey, still has that sweet puppy smell too. By MelissaWasHereTuesday from Winnipeg, MB Contest Contender!

Use All Sizes of Your Silverware Running out of silverware? I even went shopping for another set. Discovered that I like the ones I have at home better, and realized that the new set wouldn't nest with the old sets. Considering the fact that the silverware drawer isn't very deep, this presented a problem. I solved it by starting to use those small dessert forks whenever possible for small tasks (stirring coffee and for snacks) and we now seem to be getting along just fine without having to buy that third set of silverware. Use Saliva to Remove Blood Stains After years of trying every product imaginable to get blood out of clothing, I finally found what works. My father-in-law's colleague told him that the person whose blood it belongs to, can "lick" it out. So I tried it. I had a stain on my skirt (cotton) from where a razor cut on my leg had bled. I took a small amount of my own saliva on my finger and began to rub the stain. It took it completely out: not even the faint ring that is often left behind. However, a few weeks later when my son had a blood stain on one of his athletic uniforms, it was his saliva, not mine, that got it out. My amazement at how well it worked overcame my reluctance at how gross it was. By Cassy from Enterprise, AL Contest Contender!

Some seven years back I managed to collect a lot of matching rolls of Fablon, all from different boot sales. I paid no more than 30p per roll. This enabled me to decorate my half-tiled small kitchen for less than the price of one roll of washable paper! It looked good and lasted really well, we only took it done this year. You never know what's out there unless you look. By Marg from England Contest Contender!

Halloween fun for kids of all ages! Several years ago I collected about 25 simple, "easy-to-understand" Halloween riddles (available in joke books, online, etc.). I read 5 of them to my kiddos after dinner each Saturday during October. The first one to get the answer correct, got 5 "pumpkin" bucks. (Orange cardstock punched in pumpkin shapes with a "5" printed on each.) I added riddles to my list each year, and now have about 60 of them! Right before Halloween, I get some really cool items and hold an "auction". The kids use their pumpkin bucks to make bids! I've kept the sheets from the previous years to show which child got which riddles correct - it's so funny to see the progress of each, and it's really funny to see their excitement, especially when they think they KNOW the answers for sure, but come up with totally off-beat responses! Use Old Wash Cloth to Remove Nail Polish Instead of using a tissue or cotton ball to remove nail polish, I use an old washcloth. I find this works much better because the texture of the washcloth helps scrub off the polish and it doesn't shred or tear like the tissues do. I also find I am using much less polish remover. After I've used it a few times, I just throw it in the washer. The nail polish won't come out, but the remover does. This helps save money by using less polish remover, less tissues and is environmentally friendly. Source: An idea I came up with one day while doing my nails. Laminate and Use Keepsake Maps I invested in a laminating machine from the office store a few years ago for some craft projects, and really got carried away. I had scads of road maps (available for free from each state's tourism office). I cut these to fit my kitchen drawers, laminated them, and slid them in. They can be wiped free of crumbs and spills, and are fun drawer-liners. Then I laminated some brochures from our favourite RV parks, and use them as placemats at rest stops. For the motorhome, I laminated one entire map to use as a giant placemat to cover the whole dining table - it can be rolled up, held together with a rubber band and stored away in the RV. And all of these nice things were free, except the cost of the lamination. By Lady Eleanour from The Rocket City Contest Contender!

Work On Homework With Your Kids I sat with each of my kids and, after reading homework assignments, we did the homework together. It was quality, fun time (mostly) with each child individually, and the homework got completed. This also kept me up-to-date on what they were being taught. Use Skin So Soft on Leather and Wood Furniture The oil keeps the furniture from drying up, and leaves a nice shine, while the perfume makes the whole room smell nice. Just a couple of drops rubbed in with a soft cloth does the job! By Tammy from Udall, KS Contest Contender!

Rate It: Using Your TV as a Computer Monitor I am hoping all of you computer savvy people can help me out. I have an Acer Aspire 4315-2490 laptop with an LCD screen which is faulty. I was wondering if I can get some sort of cable or wire or something to plug it into my TV and use the TV as a monitor instead of my faulty screen. I don't use it outside the house and have a router to take internet from my son's DELL desktop which is very near the TV (in the same room). I have cable internet. I don't even use the mouse of the laptop as I have an external mouse plugged into the laptop since its more or less always in the same place. I don't have cable on this particular TV, its only used for my son's Playstation2 games. Getting a new screen is very expensive and I feel since the computer was a cheapo, its hardly worth it. I don't use it for much, only to check my emails and occasionally to browse the internet. We use the DELL desktop for important stuff. Many thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. Rate It: Removing Ink from a Velour Chair My 1 year old got black pen on a velour chair. Someone said to use Tide in the wash. I am assuming that the Tide can be diluted or just used directly on the pen mark on the chair to remove by rubbing lightly with a clean cloth. The cover can't go into the washing machine. Will this work or is there some other way I should be trying to clean this off? Thanks. BeveT. Post Feedback: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf53534669.tip.html
