Metallic gold, bronze and silver, as well as any jewel tone color like purple, royal blue and a topaz yellow (dark mustard color). No prints!
The fabric type is a heavy brocade, which is expensive and also sheer types like a belly dancer would wear. For a party, go with a cheaper cotton, and don't forget to raid the racks with remnants on it!
Go to fabric stores if you are doing an Arabian or Morracan theme and put it all over the stage or hanging from the ceilings. Use lots of color.
