I am looking for remedies for nausea. I am not pregnant. For about three months I have been queasy, and my mouth feels hot. What would you do? The Phenergan the doctor prescribed works for nausea, but my mouth gets so dry I couldn't summon up saliva to save my life!

I have discovered that at health food stores, they sell a ginger ale/ beer that work great. However you need to get rid of the carbonation by stirring it till flat. Also Kefir, which is liquid yogurt, not the Dannon stuff but a brand that is Life way Kefir or take the capsules that contain millions of "good Bacteria" that needs to get into the gut to kill the bad bacteria. No sodas that are cold or have bubbles. Take care

Cola Syrup in many drugstores always works for us and it's fairly cheap. We take a large tablespoonful every time we feel nauseated. I keep it on hand and cold in the fridge. With the economy acting strange and foods getting old sitting on the shelves longer folks not buying so much as before, AND the U.S. allowing third world countries to import/trade foods but without our inspection standards, we are all likely to have nausea more often! I get mine from Walgreens for about $3.59 for a 4-6 oz bottle. I don't believe CVS (govt. owned) stocks it. God bless and help you. You may need to drink more water. If the water is bad in your area, buy bottled water. You may also have an irritable colon OR stomach allergies to foods such as Corn and corn by-products
that can cause nausea when mixed with pepper of any color. Coffee in any form can cause nausea and anything acidic will only aggrevate it, in my experience. When this happens, I begin to eat mild
varieties of baby food for about two months, so that it can heal. I warm it and pour it over bread. It truly helps me to get well and stay healthy until I can eat regular food/determine what is making me sick that I'm eating OR DRINKING. Read ingredient labeling.
Watch out for Dextrose/Dextrin/Corn Sweeteners/Modified Food Starch/Ascorbic Acid, etc.
Trial and error will teach you what it is because it's usually what you have eaten recently and may be in several things you've eaten, or eat regularly. Watch for it in chips, cookies, candy, jello, some soups.
God bless and give you wisdom, knowledge and understanding. : )

When I was having chemo I used the anti nausea device that you use for motion sickness. I have seen them at CVS. I would wear them 24/7 for 4 to 5 days after the chemo. They have elastic and you put them on your wrist over a acupuncture point. Hope this works for you.

I read that lemon in water helps with morning sickness. When I had a regular upset stomach at work, all I had were some candy lemon drops and they helped a lot.

Ginger or peppermint work for me. I buy a few ounces of real ginger in the produce dept. at the grocery store, slice it finely and let it steep in boiled water for a couple of minutes. Add sugar and it's pretty good. Ginger cookies help - Aldi's carries a German brand of spice cookies that's good. Hard peppermint candy also works and it's more portable than tea.

Go to Google and type in Queasy Pops, they are a sucker in different flavors made specifically for nausea. I order them for patients I work with that take chemo or radiation but they are used by pregnant women and any others with nausea.

My mum always use to say a cup of hot water with a spoonful of sugar in it works for nausea, I have tried this over the years and it does seem to help.

Ginger tea! Buy some fresh ginger and cut a few pieces, add the pieces of ginger to a pot of boiling water and simmer for a few minutes. Add sugar, if you like and sip slowly. You can also add the dried ground ginger powder to a cup of hot water. I prefer the fresh ginger. Be forewarned.......fresh ginger has a bite to it. It has a peppery lemon flavor.

I'VE HAD THAT PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS, BUT MY HAS BEEN DIAGNOSIS WITH VERTIGO. SOME DAYS ARE WORSE THAN OTHERS, DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER. I HAVE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH THE GENERIC MOTION SICKNESS TABLETS FROM WAL-MART. IT'S THE SAME FORMULA AS DRAMAMINE, BUT MUCH CHEAPER. I'VE USED IT FOR A LONG TIME WITH GREAT RESULTS. PRENERGAN IS USED ONLY IN EXTREME CASES. IF YOU TRY IT, START OUT WITH I/2, A WHOLE, AND CHECK OUT WHAT BESTS WORK FOR YOU. SOME DAYS YOU WILL NEED MORE, SOME AS LITTLE AS A 1/4 OF TABLET.
IT REALLY IS A LIFE SAVER IN MY HOUSE.

Ginger Ale is a very good anti nausea thing. because therei s natural ginger in ginger ale(even the cheap stuff) Peppermint (as in peppermint candy) is also very good for nausea

Hi. I had the same problem. I did some reading and found B-complex ( a mix of B vitamins). Lacking certain B vitamins causes nausea. Here is an explanation for you, and instead of buying each individual vitamin, buy a b-complex 50. What your body doesn't use will come out in your urine. It will be a bright yellow color. Increase your water and take one a day. If you are taking a multi-vitamin you may also take this at a different time of day. No problem. I would love to know if you do this and if it makes you feel better! I am so happy I did this!
Explaination below.

Or try the original flat Coke -- cola syrup from the pharmacy. Ask the pharmacist if you can't find it, sometimes they have it behind the counter. It costs $3-4 for a 6 oz bottle. You only sip a little at a time, over ice, and it's very soothing.

I use over-the-counter Emetrol liquid for non-specific nausea and, so far, it has done a good job. It doesn't taste bad, either, as it's flavored.

Some one suggested ginger... Thats what I used. I tried and tried to find ginger candy... One Dr. gave my daughter in law a piece of ginger candy and it worked for her..... I my self, use candied ginger. Its expensive, at the store,,, and I found mine at Amish store.. I used it for a couple of weeks and my stomach got well. Just eat a little at a time. My sister was told to sip coke that has set out and lost its fizz. I drank coke and it really helped too. I haven't been sick for a year. I was willing to try any thing... hope this works for you.... kddid

Chew mint gum. I get nausea in the car, and gum does the trick: and produces saliva. You also might be dehydrated: I get sick if I have had too much soda and not enough water! feel better!

Hi,
Here is a good link from Harvard Medical School about nausea and it's possible causes:

http://www.intelihealth.com/IH/ihtIH/WSIHW000/9339/10422.html

For something that has lasted this long, I'd be concerned and have your doctor take some tests. They are treating symptoms not what is causing it hoping you will get better.

Try a diff. dr because something is amiss if you are still sick and not pregnant. Sometimes the cure is worse than the sickness! I can't stand it myself but ginger?
