Preventing Stains on Clothing

The best way to prevent stains on clothing is to treat the stain while it's fresh (before it goes through the washer and dryer).  My favorite method to pre-treat fresh stains is to simply rub a little dishwashing soap into the stain. The clothing then goes into the hamper to be washed within the next day or two.  This usually always completely removes any stains.  This method still works on stains that have been set (washed and dried), just not as well.

Removing Ink Marks

It's easy to remove ink marks!  Just take an old cloth and put some rubbing alcohol on it then wipe off the ink (it may take a few wipes, but hang in there, it will come off!).

Scent your Home When you Vacuum

To scent your home, saturate a cotton ball or a little wad of toilet paper with perfume, essential oil or vanilla, then vacuum it up.  When you vacuum, the scent will fill the air.

Less Scrubbing

If you have hard-to-remove gunk on your counters or stovetop, don't scrub!  Simply spray liberally with all-purpose cleaner, let sit a few minutes, then wipe up.  Repeat if gunk persists.

Save $$ on All-Purpose Cleaners

Purchase a spray-type cleaner once, then save the bottle & sprayer.  After that, use a cleaner that can be diluted, like Pine-Sol, and fill the bottle about 1/4 full, then fill the rest of the way with water.
