We were having to replace the light bulbs in our ceiling fan quite often. I believe the constant movement caused them to burn out after a very short time. We finally replaced them all with fluorescent light bulbs and haven't replaced a burnt out bulb in over a year.

They cost more than the regular ones, but they give more light for less money, and they last longer, so over a period of time, they are actually a money saver.
