Milo, my 2 year old pug, was adopted by me after his first owner died unexpectedly and wasn't found for 5-6 days. Milo went in the cupboard, got into his bag of food and was healthy and happy when discovered. He's a survivor!
Milo likes to eat pig ears. He looks out the window and waits for the mailman so he can bark like crazy at him. Whenever he sees a dog, cat or horse on TV he runs up and licks the TV screen. Milo likes to be chased so he can run around in circles outside, and he likes to play tug-of-war. He also follows me wherevever I go in the house and sleeps next to me. Milo doesn't like to be left alone so he travels with me in the car often. He loves to stick his head out of the car window and he sits in the back window while waiting for me to come out of a store.
I got Milo on Friday, July 13, 2003, and he's my loyal friend and companion. He's so friendly, cute and smart that everyone who meets him falls in love. He's a charmer!
Milo has separation anxiety, probably traumatized from the death of his first owner. I got a sample of essential oils from a veterinarian in Colorado. It helps to calm Milo when I have to leave him home alone. I'd suggest it to anyone whose dog suffers from anxiety.

Tips for organizing dirty clothes. Post your ideas.
Put a cardboard divider in your clothes hamper and use one side for whites and one for darks. Then when your family puts clothes in, they will already be sorted. Towels and sheets can also go on the white side if you have more dark clothes in family. This has worked very well in my household for several years.

Always Check The Clothing Label
Be sure to check clothing labels for recommended care of the garment. The manufacturer is liable by law for accurate care guidelines on the label so if it is ruined it will be much easier to get it replaced.

Using it Up - Face Cream In a Tube
I use some face cream that comes in a tube. When I used it up, I was commenting to myself about how it didn't last very long, so I tried dragging the uncapped tube across the edge of the counter to see if I could squeeze any more out. I ended up squeazing out a surprising amount. I probably will get another 2 months use out of it. I had read about people who would split open the empty tube of toothpaste and I tried that once but it made such a mess that I promised myself not to do that ever again. This was a lot less messy.

Since it's officially spring, I thought I would share this tip with you. We like to save some money on car washes by washing our vehicles at home. It is great fun for the family to get out the hose and wash the car together.
We usually end up in a great water fight before we are finished, too! Seriously, car washes are very expensive and you can buy what you need to wash and wax your vehicles at any department store and do it yourself at home. Cheaper and lots of fun and entertainment!

This tip is especially for people who live in small towns or near shopping facilities. With the nice weather coming soon, why not try walking to the store, especially for small trips. I know people who have invested in carts or even little red wagons to use to carry their things home from the store when they need to purchase more than they can carry in their arms. With gas at over $2/gal., it only makes sense to walk as many places as possible. Also, walking is great exercise and very good for you!

When shopping, always remember to look high and look low. The higher priced items are usually right at eye level while the bargains are usually above or below. It's easy to miss these items when you don't see them readily.

I encourage anyone who can to learn how to work on their own appliances. It cost us $40 just to have a repairman come out and tell us we had a kink in a drain hose on our washer. My husband is now looking for books on how to fix things himself rather than to pay out that kind of money.

Gift Cards for Wedding Presents

Saving on Birthday Plates, Cups and Napkins
When purchasing paper products for children's birthday parties, I buy only 1 package of napkins, plates and cups with a theme on them and then a coordinating color for the rest of the packages. It's always cheaper to buy plain than to buy theme party-ware. I also save leftover napkins for the kids lunches. They love getting Superman, Barbie napkins, etc. in their school lunches.

We're all thrifty when it comes to leftovers. We know how to make those left over mashed potatoes into Shepherd's Pie, we know how to make potpie out of left over meats. What about those tad bits of leftovers? You know, just a spoonful? What about the other half of the onion that you didn't need or those forgotten tomatoes that aren't really bad but just too soft for salad? This is what I do,
I keep a zip lock freezer bag in my freezer marked soup veggies. Each night when I clean the kitchen I throw that spoonful of green beans, corn or left over rice in that bag (whatever I think will be good in soup). I have a separate freezer bag for meats, like the last piece of roast, meatloaf or chicken.
When I want to make soup quick and easy, I open a can of beef broth and add my left over meats and veggies. Let it simmer for as little or as long as I have time for. And my family has a wonderful pot of soup. I even have a freezer bag for beef broth. (I especially like the broth that cooks out of meat in the crock-pot.)
This is a quick, easy and basically free meal. You can do the same thing with fruit; it makes a wonderful addition to ice cream. Just peel it, slice it and add a little bit of lemon juice and freeze it.

Reusing Cooking Water
By Lillian Brummet
You can decrease dry air problems and make better use of your energy dollar in the cold seasons by reusing water.
Any cooking water (such as from steamed or boiled vegetables, roots or pasta) can be left out until it has completely cooled so that the heat and moisture are released back into the air. Before pulling the plug, consider leaving hot dishwater and bath water until it cools.
Why pay to heat up your sewer pipes?

Remembering What You Need to Take
Hanging a little cotton bag (your choice how big, 6 x 8 inches is good) on the door knob of your front door to hold keys, lipstick, address or to-do book, pen, etc. will make sure that you take everything essential with you when you run out the door. Toss mail to be mailed that day, a shopping list, your daily coupons, a watch, or anything else you need, into that little bag and as you run out the door, grab it and put it into your chosen purse or handbag of the day!

Keeping Cameras Safe While on Vacation
This is about keeping your camera safe on vacation. I was walking down the street in a foreign country and had my camera strap around my wrist and the camera in my hand.
A passerby wished to be obnoxious and slapped the camera out of my hand (while walking away quickly). The camera spun out of my hand, but the wrist strap kept it safe. However, this could happen anywhere, so it's best to rely on the strap rather than on the hand for security at all times.

My stepdaughter is the proud owner of an adorable mutt not yet a year old. The dog now has biting problems. She will find something she shouldn't have and go under a table, then when you approach she will give you a warning and growl. Shen my stepdaughter goes to take the item she bites.
When my stepdaughter goes away she leaves the dog with friends and the dog will do the same thing. She finds somehting she should have and goes under a table and growls and won't give it up. If you try to get it she bites.
Can anyone help me with this problem so I can pass it on to my stepdaughter so that she can stop the dog from doing this and biting.

I noticed the wallpaper in the bathroom was lifting so I pulled it off and about three layers of wall came off with it. There was some net looking stuff and cardboard, all thats left is a brown wall, Like paper. Should I hire someone to fix my whole bathroom wall or can I do it? If so what do I need and how do I do it? It looks like it needs plaster over it or something. The layers peeled off and smells like mildew. I didn't think it was going to be that bad. YIKES.

Blue Stains On Baby Clothing After Laundering
Many of my infant daughter's clothes come out of the laundry with blue stains just on the chest area. It seems to happen only to light colors (but not white). Is it the detergent interacting with the clothing dye and some enzyme in baby spit up? I'm so disappointed that brand new clothes get discolored after just one wearing. Repeated washings do not seem to help. Any ideas?

Organizing Pictures and Memories
Now that I am almost organized (Thank you Thriftyfun)..
I decided to take down the stuff off my walls. "Stuff" being pictures, stickers, movie tickets, song lyrics, anything and everything you can imagine that looks kinda neat. I have taped it up there for years now.
I have so much stuff. I orginally started this because I am a pack rat, and I love to save all these pictures and memories, so just throwing them away is not an option.
I thought about buying a scrapbook and trying to scrapbook it all, but thats an expensive hobby, and I'm beyond broke.
Since I will be moving soon, this needs to be portable, and I'd like to look through it every once in awhile.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Does anyone knowhow to install a Dell 720 printer on Windows 98?
Does anyone knowhow to install a Dell 720 printer on Windows 98? I found a web site for directions, I started the process today, however I am stuck in a couple of places. I am hoping someone can help me.
The web site that I got the instruction is mystoragespace.port5.com that is where the download is
Website Instructions:
Step 2 - install the Lexmark solution centre
Open the folder C:\LXKZ600\ENGLISH - this contains the "Lexmark Z605 Solution
Centre".
Double click the file SETUP.EXE
My Response:
When I clicked the set-up exe the menu box had only one item in it with a
check mark - it was File- not the USB001 - File was the only option - and then I
could not unclick it to see if it would open up other options
Website Instructions:
You will be asked to select the port that you want to use the Solution Centre
with. Make sure a checkbox is placed next to the item in the list called
USB001 (no other boxes should be checked).
You will be prompted to enter the name that you want the installed printer to
be called. Enter "Dell 720 Colour Inkjet".
My Response:
I continued to this prompt and entered the Dell info
The solution centre will be installed.
You will be asked to select the cartridges that you have installed, click the
top item from each dropdown list. Click NEXT.
My Response:
Followed through to here
Website Instructions:
Step 3 - copy the edited Dell printer driver
My Response:
This is it - I am not sure what I should do here - or how to copy it can
someone walk me through the steps that lead to this section?
Website Instructions:
Copy the file entitled LXBCPR.INF (that you extracted onto your desktop earlier) to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\
My Response:
This never showed up on my desktop.
You will be asked if you want to overwrite the existing file. Click YES
Plug the printers USB cable back into the PC.
Windows will detect the printer and ask you for a driver. Point the driver
wizard to the directory C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ UPDATE: You may not get asked for the
location of the driver - it may install automatically, in which case the step
above and below are not necessary.
Click NEXT and follow the prompts.
Thank you in advance,
Beth

If, like me, when you make signs, you have a hard time writing in a straight line, or making your letters a uniform size, write the words in capital letters, tilting them slightly, and purposely making one high and one low. This also allows for more letters in less space. Finish each letter by making dots at the ends.
