put some peroxide in a spray bottle and use that first. if there is still residue sprinkle some baking soda or borax on the spot and wet it with the peroxide and pound it with a stiff brush (not rubbing back and forth, actually pound it in) blot with an old towel.

Use Woolite Oxy Deep Carpet and stain cleaner. This stuff is wonderful for removing stains. Tough stains may require 2 treatments.
