Affordable carpet remnants can be found at thrift stores and carpet discount outlets; however, it's extraordinarily expensive to have a carpet bound with carpet binding. It cost anywhere from $300 to $500 to have a large remnant bound professionally. I came up with this handy and functional idea that's not only cheap, it's highly durable as well. Plain or colored burlap can be purchased for around $1 or less per yard. Calculate the amount you'll need by measuring all sides of carpet remnant. Give yourself some extra yardage for "oopsies". Cut strips of burlap that will fold both over and under the sides of the carpet. Secure with hot glue. (I used a commercial grade glue gun). You'll have a professional look for mere pennies. If the burlap starts to separate from carpet, simply glue back in place. A commercial grade glue gun prevents this altogether and creates a permanent bond. By April from Albany, GA Contest Contender!

Pumpkin is a 5 year old Orange Tabby. We got Pumpkin when he was 6 weeks old from a man who was giving away free kittens from the back of a pick up truck in a Petsmart parking lot. He loves to watch TV! I don't know what it is, but he is really attracted to the TV, especially animal shows. He will actually sit on the edge of the bed and watch an entire program! Pumpkin has a lot of personality and loves to cause trouble. He will tease the dogs and slap them on the rear as they walk by or grab a hold of one of our legs (no claws) when you try to step over him. He is a really fun cat to have around! Use Pot Holders Under Plants to Protect Furniture Use pot holders under plants to protect your furniture. I use the ones with the rubber side. I try to get a pot holder the size of the planter. Sit the plant on the cloth side and put the rubber side next to the furniture. It will absorb any leaks or spills and not go through on the furniture. By Wanda S. from Climax, NC Contest Contender!

Add Small Amount of Bleach to Dish Water Add just a small amount of bleach to your dishwater. It's a great germ killer and it helps remove stubborn stains from your Tupperware and the like. Removes stains from your hands too if you're a gardener. Source: Old family tradition. By Linda from Lebanon, PA Contest Contender!

When notebook paper comes on sale, buy enough for the entire school year. Why pay $2.00 later for the same pack of paper that will cost you $.50 during the big school supply sales in August? Keep it all in an easy to get at location so each child is responsible for getting what they need. If there is any leftover, save it for next year. This goes for spiral notebooks, pencils, pens, whatever you children need for the year. Cheaper is better. By Carol from Hartselle, AL Contest Contender!

I keep a toothbrush near my kitchen sink for cleaning. This inexpensive tool is great for the cleaning of many items; such as Tupperware containers with grooves, jewelry cleaning, glassware with raised designs, and to clean knickknacks. A little dish soap water and a toothbrush make the chore super easy! By Dee from Dunedin, FL Contest Contender!

Product Review: Ortho Bug B Gon Max I have found the best product I've ever used to get rid of bugs of all kinds in my back yard. My yard was filled with bugs of all kinds. Fleas, ants, fire ants, roaches, spiders, you name it, it was there. The only thing I didn't have (and believe me I constantly checked) was ticks. We had tried everything. We spent more money on different products. Even had an exterminator come and treat it. Nothing helped. Three weeks ago, I got some Ortho Bug B Gon Max (the granules) and put it down. I put a good layer down and watered it in good, then let it dry. And my dog doesn't have a single bite on her. She is usually covered in bites all summer. I am able to walk barefoot out there. There's not one single ant hill, of any kind. And no bugs at all. If anyone has a bad problem with bugs in their yards, this is the stuff to get. It's FANTASTIC! And worth every penny of the price. I'm planning to get some more next week to treat my front yard with. By Cricketnc from Parkton, NC Contest Contender!

Rate It: Tiny White Bumps on a Cat's Head My cat has had ear mites recently and had to have surgery to remedy the problem from these mites. It created a huge hematoma that draining fix. He has been treated for these mites by a vet. He gets very tiny bumps up around his head and shoulder area. These aren't bumps on the skin, they are located in the hair down by the skin so I can scrap them away with my nail. He doesn't seem to be bothered a bit when I do this (many times not even noticing I have done it). I have tried looking at the bumps and it looks like a tiny bit of white scab attached to the hair, not a real bump at all. What could be causing this? He is not shaking or scratching his head. I can't see inside his problem ear since the ear flap is almost entirely closed from the surgery. (The vet said this happens in some of those surgeries and although strange looking, it is not a problem.) Anyone ever heard of these bumps? What could it be? By Blondrosecat from Cedar Bluff, VA

Rate It: Removing Artillery Fungus Stains on a Car I have these brown dots on my car and found out that it is Artillery fungus. I park my car near 2 flower beds that have mulch. Since the mulch is always wet (another factor is I buy inexpensive mulch) spores are formed in turn this fungus shoots up into the air and forms brown dots on my car. I have tried nail polish remover, hand sanitizer, used a credit card and WD40. None have worked and the Internet has no other ideas to remove these pesky brown annoying dots. Say "I Do" to Wedding Savings
Major life changes require some major planning. Often people don't plan ahead, and they only realize the financial burdens after they amass. Instead of digging out of the financial hole that a wedding leaves in your bank account, prepare to hurdle across it. Some people dig large, glamorous holes on their wedding days while others are more conservative and realize that a wedding is about love not ice sculptures.
