Make a Photo Christmas Keepsake Ornament
I had photo made on transparency film at Kinkos. Then I cut it out in a 3" circle. Rolled it up and inserted into the top of clear glass ball. It flattens out by itself. I added some angel (or glitter) hair, poking it down with a pencil, on each side of the film. Then I replaced the top, added some "snowflakes" the names and date with a white marker. These are our two oldest great grandsons. Have to make another since there are 3 of them now.

These are the best of my photos from my college class.
Sugar, the dog, reflects me and the fence in her eyes.
The roof is from a historic farm in Utah.
The little girl is a stranger whose party I crashed at the historic farm. I did not get her name.
The boarder was skating at the local skate park. I don't know his name. It took me two days to get the timing. All usually flew out of the camera frame.
The girls were practicing near the skating park. I took out all the other girls practicing near these two.

Terrific Beaded Tiara
By Connie Decker Brown
Supplies:
Directions:
1. Take one tinsel stem, tuck end over, and shape into an arc. Tuck the other end over.
2. Take another tinsel stem and fold it in half.
3. Twist the folded end, leaving a small hole. Shape into an arc.
4. Thread the first stem through the hole of stem #2.
5 Take the 2 loose ends of stem #2 and wrap them around stem #1 (see illustration).
6. Shape the two strands of stem #2 into the shape of a heart and stand them upright on stem #1.
7. Tuck the ends of tinsel stem #3, and shape into an arc like stem #1. Place it under stem #1. Stems 1 and 3 the base of your tiara.
8. Thread needle with upholstery thread.
9. Make a slipknot around one end of the base and tighten to join the stems.
10. String a bead onto the threaded needle, making sure it goes to the far end. Wrap the thread around the base, wrapping them together and keeping the bead on the outside.
11. Repeat step number 10 around the base until you reach the upright half-hearts.
12. Repeat step 10, going up and around one, then back and around the other, returning to where you left the base.
13. Repeat step number 10 around the rest of the base, making a slipknot at the end to finish.
14. Voila! One Terrific Tiara for your special princess.

Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

Balloon Weights
By Craftbits
Materials:
Instructions:
Mix your plaster of Paris and pour it into your molds. Your molds need to be flexible in order to get the plaster back out again.
Just before it sets, place a bent in U shape strong f wire, this is the hook you will tie your balloons to.
Once it is solid, paint it with pretty colors. A bunch of balloons look great on these.

Tips to help you ogranize your Refrigerator. Post your ideas.
Organizing Your Refrigerator
To help keep things organized in my refrigerator, so that my husband can find what he needs, I keep a couple small shallow baskets on the bottom shelf. I put all the small containers of mustard, soy sauce, jellies, hot sauce, etc. in these baskets. They can be pulled out to check the contents. This leaves me just enough room between them to store an extra carton of eggs.
I store leftovers in the fridge in covered plastic containers. I always stick a piece of masking tape on the top and write the date and the contents on the tape. It helps avoid leftovers being forgotten until they turn green.

Swiffer Wet Jet Refill Recipes
Refilling Swiffer Wet Jets
When using a Swiffer Wet Jet, the replacement bottles can get pretty expensive. I discovered that you can take the cap off the bottle (I used a strap wrench which you can find in the tool department at Sears (and it's great for opening all sorts of bottles, so it would be a worthwhile investment) but soaking the top in hot water also helps,) and refill it with your own cleaning solution. I diluted it so that it wouldn't get too soapy.
To pour your cleaning solution into the bottle, simply place a funnel over the bottle. I personally like Amway LOC, but I also really like Fabuloso. You can use any cleaner, but diluting it stretches the cleaning solution substantially. Once you have managed to get the top off of the bottle, you can refill it whenever it gets empty, without having to spring for a whole new bottle. It's also better for the environment.

My best back-to-school tip is to have a "spot" or hook for each child's backpack. That way it can easily be located in the morning when leaving and anything else that needs to go that morning can be set beside the backpack as a reminder.
Packing the backpack with completed homework, signed papers and show and tell the night before helps the morning go smoother also.

When you get interested in a new craft, don't buy the books or magazines at the start. Use your public library. Many libraries are part of a regional network and they'll get books from other libraries for you. Check the online directory. Only buy the books when you're sure it's one you need to have on the shelf.

Thermal Paper Receipts and Faxes
If you need to keep a receipt for warrantees, etc. Check to see if it is printed on thermal paper. If they are, photocopy them (note: some copy/fax machines use thermal paper, too) for your records. Receipts on thermal paper tend to fade over time. I've found ones that I can no longer read.

Most of us should use our cell phones for all long distance calls. If you have unlimited LD, why are you paying for each call on your land line? For that matter, why do you have a land line? Think hard about whether you need both.

When my daughter went away to college, she was away from home for the first time and living with a total stranger roomy. I took a page from my Amish friends and made them each a "Sunshine Box." Whenever an Amish person needs a boost with a long recovery from illness or is down about something, the community and family make a Sunshine Box. There is a little gift to open each day for a month.
I chose 30 items for my daughter and also had the exact same thing for her room mate, Linda. I numbered each item so they would open the same thing each day. The items were as simple as a candy bar or a pack of gum, a pack of mechanical pencils, memo pads, Ramen Noodles, herbal tea bags, instant hot cider, etc. Just something to look forward to each day. I placed all of the items in a plastic milk crate, which they used as bookshelves when they were emptied.
It really seemed to help them over a big hump, and helped them to bond for the rest of the year.

Tips to help keep socks together.
Keeping Socks Together
Here is an idea for keeping your socks together and a fast way to match them. When you take your socks off each night safety pin the pair together at the toe. Then when you go to wash and dry them they will still be together, you will never loose another sock again! It's great and you never have a basket of socks that needs to be matched, it saves so much time.

Wooden Spool and Nails Instructions
A friend of mine saw me making a bracelet. So she started telling me about another craft. She doesn't know how to start it or what it's called. First you hammer in 4 or 5 nails into a wooden spool (evenly spread out) and you have 5 strings. You knot the strings and put that part through the hole in the middle of the spool. Then you are supposed to wrap the other end of the strings around the nails in some sort of pattern and pull the string that's through the hole to make it tight. That's all I know. Would anyone happen to know what the pattern to wrap the strings around the nails is?

My one and half year old, about 7 lbs., won't stop barking. She doesn't bark at anyone in my family, and a few other people, but she'll bark at anyone else, and just won't stop. I've had her and her borther since they were born, so it's not like they've had a root to this. In fact, her brother isn't like that, neither is her mother. I adore them all, but I need to find a way to get her to stop, as I am moving in a few months to a place where neighbors will be sure to complain. Please, help me out!

Clean Caulking and Grout In Bathroom
I live in an old apartment and my bathroom seems to have lots of impenetrable stains on the grout and caulk. I've tried Tilex, 409, bleach, but none seem to do much. I was reading one post about natural enzyme products. Does anyone have any opinions about these? Where do you find them?

Smell Coming From a Car Air Conditioner
I have a four year old car that runs great, a dream to drive and gets reasonable gas mileage. One problem however, it has a peculiar odor when the air conditioning is running. I took it in to the dealer. He told me it happens occasionally to vehicles and I happen to be one of the unlucky people to have this problem. He sold me a can of spray for the vents under the hood. It smelled like talcum powder for a few days then the odor came back.
Have any of you had this problem? If so, were you able to remedy it. Sure hope someone can help. This is such a great and helpful website. No harm in asking.
Thanks in advance,
Marimba
