Sunshine is not a sanitizer. But letting it stay outside can help. But, make sure you dont bring in any unwanted creatures (bugs, spiders...) My mother used to put our matresses outdoors, as well as pillows. It also makes them smell fresh. Get one of those and use it to thoroughly clean the couch. I believe they do have models that have hand wands you can use on furniture.
