Anyone have any tips on sanitizing a used couch I'm receiving? It's a white couch and bleaching it will turn it yellow. It's been in someone's garage for a year but it's in nice condition... I just want to make sure it's sanitized.

Thanks!

Try using vinegar. It will deodorize as well as kill some germs. I would also spray some antimicrobial Febreeze on it.. Sunshine is not a sanitizer. But letting it stay outside can help. But, make sure you dont bring in any unwanted creatures (bugs, spiders...)

Put outside on a warm sunny day. Sunshine is a natural sanitizer.

My mother used to put our matresses outdoors, as well as pillows.

It also makes them smell fresh.

I would try steam cleaning

Most grocery stores where I am here rent carpet cleaning machines. Get one of those and use it to thoroughly clean the couch. I believe they do have models that have hand wands you can use on furniture. The one the my mother in law owns does, so we just borrow hers, have never had to rent one! :-)

Assuming it's not soiled, I would just vacuum it well. Maybe let it air outside for a while on a sunny day.
