Hickory Nut Cake
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup butter (scant)
- 2 eggs, separated, beaten
- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 cup hickory nuts, ground
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Cream butter and sugar well; add beaten yolks, add water and sifted ingredients alternately. Add vanilla and floured nuts. Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake in 350 degrees F oven.
