Hickory Nut Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup butter (scant)
  • 2 eggs, separated, beaten
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 cup hickory nuts, ground
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

Cream butter and sugar well; add beaten yolks, add water and sifted ingredients alternately. Add vanilla and floured nuts. Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake in 350 degrees F oven.
