English Pastries Recipe

Does anyone have recipe (they have used successfully) for English Pasties? The crust is my problem? Every time I attempt the crust it falls apart and seems to not be enough.

Thanks,

"Impossible" Chocolate Pudding Pie

Would anyone have the old Bisquick recipe for "Impossibe" chocolate pudding pie. This was from the late 70's early 80's. It made a chocolate sauce on top, and was mixed all at once and put in a regular pie pan.

Never-Fail Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 3/4 cups lard

Directions

Mix together with a pastry cutter or fork until it is mealy and crumbly. A good glaze for your pie tops: 1 egg, beaten and 1/4 cup milk stirred together. Brush or spoon over the top and sprinkle with sugar. Makes them golden brown and slightly shiny. These will not get soggy either. Pie dough does not like to be handled a lot. The less it is worked after the liquid has been added, the flakier the crust.

Cherry Kisses

This is a really NEW recipe, because I just made it up! I am starting to make my Christmas cookies and freeze them. Hershey just came out with a cherry cordial kiss, so with the help of a couple of different cookie recipes, I came up with this one. My little 2 1/2 year old grandson "helped" mix. He waited until I stopped the mixer and he added each ingredient.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 3 oz. box cherry Jello
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • red paste coloring, optional
  • 60 cherry cordial Hershey kisses

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Sift flour, salt, and soda together. Mix butter, sugar and jello until creamy, and add eggs one at a time. Add almond flavoring. Add flour mixture alternately with milk. Flour hands and roll 1 tablespoon balls of dough on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 10 minutes. Place unwrapped kiss in the center of HOT baked cookie and cool completely on the cookie sheet. This takes a long time for the kiss to solidify, so don't rush or you will have nothing but blobs on the cookie.
