Craft: Granny Square Wheelchair Lapghan

We live in a very large apartment complex and two male residents have to use wheelchairs. I just finished this lapghan the other night and have started on a second one.

The approximate measurements are 36 inches wide by 48 inches long. I made two removable 30 inch long cords so the lapghan can be tied to the back of the wheelchair if so desired.

I didn't follow a pattern, this is my own creation.

Craft Project: Father's Day Remote Holder
By Laurel Ehlers

I helped my kids make these remote holders for Father's Day gifts. They are a fun gift that can be on display all year long and lend a "helping hand" to someone special!

Craft: Decorative Pot

Make a great addition to your patio or front porch with this decorated plating pot! I used a regular black color plastic pot, attached a variety of buttons around the top with a hot glue-gun for a neat way to add color to the pot. Then I just wrapped a small swag of flowers around the bottom and filled it up with white rocks. Looks great alone or with an arrangement. Takes only minutes to make!

Tips:

Recycle Towel Pieces into a Quilt Beach Towel

There was a post a few days ago about recycling cloth towels by cutting them in to 12 inch squares and using as cleaning rags. I thought "why not be creative and quilt those squares in to new bath towels, beach towels or picnic blankets?" You can cut the quilt pieces to any size you wish and not only would the finished products be unique but also would have an extra life before becoming cleaning rags. ;-)

Cereal Boxes to Organize Craft Supplies

I use cereal boxes to hold craft stuff. I use one for colored paper, one for wax paper, and one for little paint holders (tea light cups, bottle caps, etc). I glue a piece of construction paper to the front, and let the kids color it. I cover the back with my kids coloring book pages. Then I punch holes in sides, string together with ribbon and hang on the wall.

Use Dryer Sheets for Embroidery

I recently bought a sewing/embroidery machine and love to embroider on things that I make. The stabilizer is pretty expensive so I didn't buy any, instead I use dryer sheets. I save them after drying my clothes, iron them and then reuse them. If you need a stiffer stabilizer, use it before it has been dried with your clothes. It works great and makes your craft smell good!

Contests:

The above contests are weekly. We pick 2 tip winners, 2 photo winners (1 photo and 1 pet photo) and 1 recipe winner at the end of each week. Each winner will win $25!

New Requests:

Wholesale Acrylic Beads

I need quality wholesale lightweight acrylic beads in bulk lots. Not the ugly plastic beads you find at the craft store, but nice looking plastic beads. I would prefer they come strung on cord and not loose. But any kind will do as long as they look nice and are fairly cheap.

I'm making something for resale that will sell for under $5. I'm looking for all sizes from 12 mm on down to 2 mm. I have already looked on E-bay and gone into Shipwreck beads (a very large bead store). Most stores don't carry acrylic beads that look classy and if they do, they are pricey. Can anyone help?

Wrapping a Shoe Box

I am trying to wrap shoe boxes, top and bottom separately, for the Good Samaritan Christmas boxes for children. I have tried lots of different ways to wrap each piece separately, so they can be opened and filled with goodies. Does anyone have a good tutorial I can use! Thanks.
