Kechi (TerriPoo?)

Kechi is seven year old wire haired terrier mixed with poodle, the breeder called him a Terri Poo but the city called him a Border Terrier on the licensing paperwork. I got this guy from a lady that lives in El Paso. I guess she has a couple of Terri Poos and breeds them.

I had just left Guatemala to come live here and we had left our dog behind there. I promised my son a new dog to help him adjust to living in the USA. Kechi has been a great company for all of us! He is a funny dog, he loves to sing, especially "Home, Home On The Range". If you start to sing this song, he will sing along for as long as you keep singing. His second favorite is "Frito Bandito", especially if he gets a frito after he sings it. He also can get stuck on lick mode as you can see from his picture. He loves to give kisses but just can't stop!

I love our dog because he doesn't pick favorites in the family. He is always on top of where everyone is and spends all his time checking up on each person. He is my walking/exercise buddy. He keeps my elderly mother company all day and they share lots of snacks. He is my husband's frito eating buddy, and my sons play mate. They play endless games of fetch the ball and chase the cat!

Ranger (Min Pin)

Ranger is a 10 year old Miniature Doberman Pincher (Min Pin). He got us about 3 months ago. He belonged to a friend of ours who didn't take proper care of him. I guess Ranger decided he wanted structure in his life, so he jumped into the car and refused to get out. He just wanted a normal home with structure and stability.

He loves going for rides in the car and to the park. He is a great dog. His nickname is Skippy because he is very light on his feet.

Boone (Golden Doodle)

Boone is 21 months old and is a Golden Retriever / Standard Poodle Mix (Golden Doodle). We adopted Boone when he was about 3 months old. A friend that my wife worked with had bought him from a breeder but was moving into an apartment that does not allow pets. Boone was on his way to the pet shelter when my wife and I found out and decided to adopt him.

He has been a blessing in our life ever since. Boone loves to chase tennis balls, sleep on the couch, have his hair brushed, go for car rides, and cuddle with anyone willing to give him some attention.

Clean Shower Doors with Squeegee After Showering

The best way to clean glass shower doors is to use a good squeegee, right after you turn the water off. I have found the Cleret brand of shower squeegee's works best. I can quickly run it over the doors and all the tile surfaces in the bath. Love it. Purchased it online a few years ago.

Protecting a Mattress from Adult Incontinence

My elderly father occasionally has an "accident" during the night. I have placed a quilted waterproof pad, approximately one yard square, on top of the bottom sheet. If the bed is accidentally soiled during the night, all he does is toss the pad and either returns into a clean bed or places another dry pad in the bed.

This is an efficient tip that saves time washing and changing the sheets. My father feels more independent knowing that he doesn't have to disturb anyone during the night. The pad we use is the one the nurses used when he was hospitalized. Patients sleep on it to make it easier for nurses to slide them into their beds.

Product Review: C Cleaner PC Optimization Tool

To keep my computer running smoothly, in addition to the standard anti-spyware and anti-virus scans, I like to use C Cleaner. Used to be known as crapcleaner. It's free. It's wonderful. Go to www.ccleaner.com. They have a new version every now and then, and I always make sure to download these.

It has (for free) a registry cleaner and a standard temp file cleaner and has scared my computer into behaving!.

Air Out New Shower Curtain Before Hanging

We bought a new plastic shower liner, used inside fabric curtain. You should not hang up in the bathroom, as it gives off harmful chemicals. So what we did was hang the liner in the outside garage for 10 days.

Homemade Spider Trap

I happen to get quite a bit of spiders in my house. I hate to find them near my babies' cribs. I found a way to eliminate spiders without sprays. Put double sided tape on an index card or scrap paper. Place this in corners, under the beds and dressers; any dark and dusty places where spiders like to hang out. In a week or two, throw it away, and start over again!

Felt for Securing Clothes on Hangers

If you're tired of finding clothes on the closet floor that have fallen of hangers, here is a simple solution. Use a sticky felt circle on each side of a hanger to help clothes stay in place. This works really well for silky, slippery items.

Dear Webby's Joke of the Day

An enormously wealthy 65-year-old man falls in love with a woman in her 20s and is contemplating a proposal.

"Do you think she'd marry me if I tell her I'm 45?" he asks a friend.

"With her, your chances are better," says the friend, "if you tell her you're 90 and have a heart problem."

Hair Color for Sensitive Skin

I am a 69 year old woman with salt and pepper hair (leaning more to the pepper). I would like to color my hair but the last two times I have done so I had an allergic reaction to it. My scalp itched and one time it flaked after using. Is there any product I could use that I will not get a reaction to that is effective?

I understand Henna would work but have no idea where to buy it and really don't want to buy it online. I did buy Garnier Nutrisse but have not opened it yet. A woman standing near me when I was looking at the hair color suggested this one because it is gentler. But if someone has a better suggestion, I can return it.

Cat With Fleas

I have 3 cats, 2 Persians, and 1 Himalayan and I also have a Shipoo. My cats have never been outside except when Nolan (my big white Persian) ran out. Now they have fleas.

I've tried to use flea products. I use Adam's spray, both of my cats foamed at the mouth. It scared me to death, I rushed them to the bath and started washing them with warm water. I'm never using chemicals again on my cats. I like only one product Advantage, but it's so expensive. I've washed them with blue Dawn and I tried to pick every flea off. It's not working too good. They have sores on them. I've used Castor oil, alcohol, Neosporin (not all at once), I rotate.

What's so weird is that I have no fleas in my house. I'm thinking the eggs are housing in their tails. I've heard bay leaves are good for dog houses and kennels, and that the fleas can't stand the smell.

Does anyone think maybe this would be good for my cats? I'm not using anymore harsh chemicals on my cats. Not after the Adam's spray. I tried to call Adam's poison hotline, no one would even answer. Please help me. I love my cats.

Removing Unknown Stains on Towels

I just bought beautiful hand towels from Williams Sonoma Home for my guest bathroom. They are waffle weave on one side, plush terry on the other and linen colored.

We had a bunch of guests over the weekend and at the end I discovered one of the towels has 3 weird stains on it. There are 3 pinkish-orangish stains that look almost like dye transfer or as if someone bleached out the towels.

I am soaking them now in Woolite and water, but am very pessimistic. It's not a regular stain, looks very set in. I have no idea what it could be. Anyone have any suggestions for me? The towels washing instructions are machine wash warm, tumble dry.

Thanks.

DE Pool Filter Tank Not Draining

I have an in-ground gunite pool. I have a DE filter. Despite having a relatively clean pool, I have to clean the filter almost every two months or so. Every time I clean, I release the air on the tank and when I remove the tank lid, the water is automatically drained.

This time is was half full and had sediment in the bottom. I tried to unlock and raise the backwash valve just to let water run out. The valve would not budge. Although it may be unrelated, my far skimmer is also not sucking water. If it is clogged, I couldn't imagine with what. The skimmer basket wouldn't allow an obstruction to pass.

The water stays clear. I need to know - is it OK to put the filter back in and backwash before putting new DE in so that some of the sediment will drain out along with the let over water? If not, then what is the remedy? Also, I never refilled my tank with water manually with a hose after I put the filter in. I always just turn the pump on. I have seen some instructions that say to manually fill the tank before putting the top back on. What do you think the problem might be?
