I am hoping that some of you can help me with ideas on making Christmas Tree ornaments to be hung on a tree in my Oriental themed living room. My knickknacks, wall pictures, rug, etc. are oriental style. I wanted my tree to fit in with that theme but can't find ideas or patterns for ornaments. Can anyone help me with ideas/patterns? Thanks.
You may want to incorporate an idea I used when I did an Oriental theme Christmas. I went to Chinatown and purchased a bunch of Chinese newspapers and used them to wrap my gifts. Then I used a plain red, green or blue ribbon and bows on each. They looked stunning and very interesting with the Chinese characters. Also much cheaper than buying Xmas wrapping paper.

Im not sure how far you may have to travel, but you would find some very pretty things in your closest Vietnamese or Tai grocery store. Those stores carry lots of weird foods and all kinds of housewares and decor. The things arent expensive as to an asian person thats just a regular store.
Thissie, How about origami? You could do cranes, boxes, stars out of pretty oriental papers, or even just festive colors like red and gold.
You could find oriental characters you like, print them out and mount them on card stock, then edge them with gold paint marker or glue on gold cording. If you turn them on an angle - kind of like the diamond shaped prints you might see in an asian restaurant that would be interesting.
Make tiny little fans out of oriental papers or fabrics.
Cover styrofoam balls with oriental fabrics and hang those.
Post pictures when you get it all done - sounds like it could be a really pretty themed tree!
