Has anyone kept their swimming pool full of water throughout the winter months? It is from Wal-Mart with the white metal posts that hold up the sides and it makes a circle to hold the top edge of the pool up. It is not the one that has the ring on the top that you blow up to keep the pool upright
My sister and I and some neighbors have these pools, she has left some water in the bottom to prevent the leaves and algae from drying out, then in the spring, use a shop -vac and hand scrubbing to clean, my neighbor buys a pool closing kit and adds it to the water and has spent a lot of money on a winter cover. So chose you method according to your budget! I hope this helps
Yup, you can buy winterizing kits, you drain the pool down to below the filter, add the chemicals, put in the pool pillow (which helps keep water from pooling in the cover and breaks up ice) cover the pool and then in the spring you get a pool opening kit. NOTE: the pool closing kit contains a type of antifreeze not just shock. If the water freezes the ice will expand anc could break the sides. It is worth the winterizing kit. They sell them at pool stores, Lowes, Home Depot and even sometimes at Walmart.
We live in northwestern Pennsylvania, and we had a pool like yours for years when our daughters still lived at home. We never took it down in the winter. You will need to shock the pool and then put a pool pillow in the middle before you cover it. For a couple of years we couldn't afford to buy a pool pillow, so we tied 4 or 5 car tire inner tubes together, and put them in the middle. It worked, but the pool pillow is better.
if its a typical above ground pool go to a pool store get rubber corks to seal up scimmer store the filter. buy winterizing fluid and shock the water a blow up pool pillow and cover will be neccesaay .but you will see rain water build up around the space below the pillow this can be drained by a short hose suck on it to start a siphon and wiil drain the water check with the pool store that the wall of your pool are strong enoug. in the spring all you have do do is shock the water and let the filter clean it .i have maintaned a above ground pool 22 years with out ever draining it
hello! I do have a Walmart pool but not the type you have.It's a one piece vinyl pool with a liner.We leave the water in it during the winter.We clean and shock it and then cover it.We put a huge blow up pillow under the cover so that the snow and rain will drain off.I don't know if the pool you have will with stand the winter or not.A friend of mine has the one you have and she takes it down,she's never tried leaving it up.Sorry I couldn't help more.Maybe some digging on the web for some answers might help.Good Luck.
