I am trying to find some neat centerpieces for a LUAU. It will be in March and I am in a hurry. Any neat ideas will be greatly appreciated. The Luau will be for a Senior Mobile Home Park.

Colorful flowery leis attached by clear fishing line can be attached to the walls and ceiling with thumbtacks, etc. How about those colorful tiny umbrellas for drinks, they can be used, too, in decorations or in centerpieces or as party picks. Grass skirts, coconut shells, colorful tropical fish decorations, etc. How about serving fruit kabobs (on a skewer, alternate colorful chunks of fruit: grape, cantaloupe, watermelon, apple or pear, strawberry, etc., can serve with a fruit dip or not.). Best of Luck!!

I would try for edible centerpieces. Using toothpicks put cherry eyes, kumquat nose and papaya slice for mouth on a pineapple. Use the green top like hair and add those artificial leis around the pinapple where the neck would be and wrap in either hawaiian print cloth napkins(should be easy to make, just cut or rip squares big enough ie about 18" square or large heavy paper napkins liks a shirt and toothpick on. If you want add arms and and hands with pinapple spears(skin still on) and more kumquats or apricots for hands(small ones), again all attached by toothpicks.

We just hd a Hawaiian-theme dinner party. For a centerpiece I put seashells in a clear glass vase. It was the talk of the party, and it made the friend who gave me those shells feel nice.

If you can find nice-looking real pineapples they can be eaten and you won't have a lot of useless leftover decorations.
