Please clarify your question. What is a sock protector?
sock protectors relieves your socks and working shoes(boots) from the collection and build up of burrs(or bindies or catheads or whatever you find yourself to call them) that would normally prick your skin and irritate your lower legs(feet). if you are one to not understand this, then you may find yourself hard to understand anything.
They are bags that you wash socks in, or travel with them. For the price of 39.99 I wouldn't pay to buy one either.
They are not bags to wash socks in, you put your socks on, then your sock protectors, then put on boots or shoes. Arrange sock protector to cover socks and top of shoe, and you won't get sawdust or grass clippings etc on your socks.
Omg I cannot believe the replies U r getting, they are protectors for your boots and socks. They are not bags. They slip over your boots and sit slightly up your leg.
If it's a bag to wash socks in to keep together; especially good for baby socks. My Granmommie made bags out of soft netting! You might try to recycle a bag that oranges come in; weave ribbon or braided yarn around opening that you can tie to put into washer/dryer.
I just googled 'diy sock protectors' and found a pattern at book and thread which looks good
