Does anyone know what you would call a mix breed of a Bichon Frise and a Pomeranian. And is it even possible to breed these 2?

We have a pom bichon mix. She is the best dog ever. She is about 11 pounds now and is the sweetest thing. She love the lap and the back of the sofa. She is a cuddler and loves to be held. Her temperment is wonderful but she is a good little watch dog and barks when she sees people outside but not excessive. She does require to be groomed but doesn't shed which is awesome.

My Pom-a-chon is 4 months old and is the greatest thing I've ever purchased! It takes time and patience to potty train him, and he can get a little feisty and nippy when playing but it's so worth it!

Keiko Matsui is a bichon-pom mix, and is the sweetest, smartest dog! She is truly the queen of her realm - the alpha of the pack - and lets us know it. Her coat is silky - almost like human hair - but never needs to be cut; she's much more "wolf-like" looking than the other dogs on this site. She's had no health problems, but is terribly gun/thunder shy, which can sometimes lead to accidents and even colitis. However, she has a large vocabulary, does tons of tricks, opens presents, runs like the wind, and plays fetch like her life depends on it. I love her so much!

Great with kids and other animals. You do need a little patience for the house breaking. Mine will be a year old in February and she still has accidents. It is frustrating.

CUTE! I've had my bichon pom for 5 years and she's a handful. She's very curious and spunky, but has a sweet side that likes to cuddle - on her time, of course.

We have a 1/4 pom and 3/4 bichon. This is Yume. She is 3 mos old. She is just so adorable, very feisty but fun. She does not shed. We are housetraining her and you need to have alot of patience. Other than that she is so lovable and good with the kids.

A hyperactive pup! We recently adopted a male Pomeranian-Bichon Frise with curly hair on his legs and chest, and who loves to chew, hates grooming, but gets along well with our cats.

I have a ten week old pomchon. He's an adorable little guy, but a bit feisty. I am so glad I got him, though. His name is Teddy. :-)

They have also been called Pomachons, and I want one! I was going to buy one and it was sold out from under me. Can I ask where everyone got theirs? Especially Lucy, the one with the picture of the darker colored one. That dogs coloring is a lot like the one I wanted and now can't find any more. Please help?

All I can say is...ever since we got our lil bichonaranian, life has never been better - she is almost 1 1/2 yrs old. She is amazing and simply adorable. She doesn't shed and has a really good temperament - such that we got one for my parents. It is true though, with a mixed breed, they could end up with different looks - our newest member of the family had 2 brothers and a sister that all looked different.

sorry for the blurry pic - it was taken with a cell phone camera

I have one and his name is Chaos. We think he is a bichoneranian. He is very old we have had him almost 14 years. I would love to have another when he passes away but we can't seem to find one. He has been just the best dog.

Hey Ronda, it is possible to breed the two, but you definitely get unexpected results. My Bichon got pregnant (oh..SO not intentional) and gave birth to a mix of 3 Bichon-Pomeranian puppies. 2 boys and 1 girl. They were the full spectrum; the girl looked more Pom only the very tips of her ears gave her away and flipped down a little. The largest boy (on right) looks more Bichon (with a haircut) his snout and torso are longer and hair texture is more like a Bichon. The boy on the left, is a perfect match of the two breeds; the Pom teddybear face, short-ish stocky body, fluffy yet curly hair. However, even though the mother Bichon was sweet and timid, and father Pom was more dominant, they all seemed to inherit the same general personality traits; loyal, warm, protective, oh...and stubborn.

Not all bichon pom mixes look like that pictuer..i have one and the mother was white and the father black..so the mom was the bichon and the father the pom.. and she doens't look anything like that.. most bichon pom mixes DO NOT shed. There ears do stand up.. but it takes them time. I have had my puppy since she was 5 weeks old..and they are wonderful dogs..she is now 9 months old. So if you are thinking about getting one..they are WONDERFUL

To those that have this mix, does your dog shed? Does it take after the Bichon or the Pom. ?

The pound will probably list it as a mixed breed - may list it as a pom mix or bichon mix depending on which breed it looks more like. But as the previous poster commented - I'd get it spayed or neutered. Look on petfinder to see how many unwanted pure-bred and mixed breed dogs are looking for homes. Too many people don't realize what's involved with puppies - if you happen to be breeding dogs, the cost of breeding isn't just getting the dogs together, it's making sure the female is healthy and disease free, changing her to a pregnancy diet, extra vet visits, and (for small breeds) ultrasounds/x-ray to make sure you don't need a surgical delivery. Then there's the vetting for the puppies, and the possibility of raising an entire litter. If you're not experienced with breeding - get lots of help before you start.

They are called a Bichon Pom or Bichon-A-Ranian. Here's a link showing a picture of one: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/bichonaranian.htm
