I am wondering what to use to wash my ponies with. I don't want to buy expensive horse shampoo. I think someone did send this tip in before but I can't find it now & have forgotten. Thanks.

Washing a horse with shampoo is usually only needed when they are completely dirty (as in, all the way coated with mud or other dirtying things) and/or have ticks or lice. (But, ontop of the shampoo, for ticks or lice you would need bug removing stuff.)
Meanwhile, gentling hosing them works great while scrubbing in gentle circles with a sponge. Often, people use horse shampoo much too often, and the protective oils of the horse's coat get thinned out. This isn't good for horses who live outside, but horses who live inside can at the most have a shampoo bath every week. :) Hope this helps. :)

I use baby shampoo also.....but I don't dilute it. Just rinse like crazy! Goodluck!

I don't use shampoo, don't feel the need to see suds to think that the horse is clean. I use Apple Cider vinegar: 1/4 cup in a pail of warm water gets them squeaky clean, lose the itch, and no rinsing.

I go to the dollar store and buy baby shampoo, and dilute it with water ...1/3 water, 2/3 shampoo. I also buy cheap conditioner, and use that diluted by 1/2 as well.
