I have to make a package/container from recycled materials to contain a hard boiled egg which will be dropped off a metre high wall and the egg inside must not crack?

We are doing a project in school. We are thinking about using a tube with cotton and fabric. Very useful.

I would use a recycled grocery bag, stuffed full of shredded newspaper.
Pack the shredded newspaper in the bottom half of the bag, place the egg in and pack the sides and top with shredded paper and tie the top of the bag.

Only a meter high for a hard-boiled egg? You will win this thing! Styro peanuts?

I had to do this in college but we used uncooked eggs. The best design was an egg in the middle of a 1 ft cube of foam rubber. The foam was held in place by rubber bands around the outside. They were dropped off a 6 story building. Also one guy welded together a 1 ft. square box and put macaroni salad in it with the egg in the middle. Surprisingly it survived the 6 story drop also.

Is this an assignment that you are to come up with the idea?

Pantyhose. The egg inside a sleeve of it and stretched across the box, with enough room so that when it hits and momentum pushes it down it won't hit the bottom.
