RIBBING

Note Ribbing is attached to Crown every other row as you work.

With smaller hook, chain 9. Single crochet into 2nd chain from hook and each chain across 8 single crochet. Insert hook into next stitch (on Crown) and pull up loop (2 loops on hook), insert hook into following Crown stitch, pull up loop and draw through loops on hook (double slip stitch).

Next Row Chain 1, turn. Single crochet into back loop of each single crochet across rib.

Next Row Chain 1, turn. Single crochet into back loop of each single crochet across; double slip stitch next 2 Crown stitches.

Repeat these two rows until you have worked all around the Hat and then slip stitch first and last rows together for seam. Weave in ends.

POMPOM

Cut a piece of cardboard 2 1/2" x 3. Wrap the yarn around the 2 1/2" width; the more times you wrap, the fuller your pompom will be. Cut yarn, leaving an 18 end. Slide pompom off cardboard carefully and wrap end around middle, securing it lightly. Clip through loops on both ends. Sew pompom to top of hat.
