I'm 12 and I really need to decorate my room but I can't decide I want my room to be unique but I only have a $100, I've spent hours looking on the internet for ideas but can't find any thing can some one help me?

I have the same problem and I'm ten. I get told what I want is too mature for me and stuff but it's mine and I'm in a rental house :(:(

I am 10 and I don't know what to do with my room. I mean it is so boring. My mom says paint it pink, but pink isn't my thing. What should I do?

I totally understand! I'm ten also. I've been dying to redecorate for like forever. My brother just moved out a couple months ago, so I'm going to be moving into his room. Its a lot bigger, and more sunlight comes in. I want to paint it lime green with daisies. I know what your probably thinking. Its kind of babyish. But doesn't it sound really bright and sunny? Maybe (I might do this also) try to find some different sized boxes.Decorate all the boxes. Try stacking them in a unique way. When its dry, you'll be able to store some of your things in it. I hope my advice helps. Because I have the same exact problem.

yours truly,
Allie

I have twins that are boys, and I bought them paint and posters. They made everything in their room themselves.

Me, too! Try doing a Google search for ideas and room themes! Search for "tweens" because 10 year olds are not children!

My room in jr high and high school reflected my sports and music interests .. instead of a wallpaper border I painted the "sheet" music of my favorite song around the room in kind of a wave pattern around the top of my walls .. I played basketball, skiied and played softball and took one wall and painted 3 boxes Black, White and Gold (our school colors) and had pictures, awards, medals and newspaper clippings in each one .. like a big bulliten board for each sport .. some stuff I pulled down after the season but I kept some and it was like a scrapbook on the walls ..

My room was decorated like that from 7th grade until I went to college and my sister got my old room! She quickly painted over everything but that's just her taste.

Good Luck to you and remember if you like it then who cares what anyone else thinks "(excecpt maybe your mom/dad since it's their house!)

I am a 12 year old girl and need a serious new look in my bedroom. I am sortuv going for a theme, such as forest, love, elegant etc. Right now my theme is Horoscopes (meaning stars, moons and so on). Since my room is a handmedown of my sister, it doesn't really reflect me. I am crazy about animals, music, thread work, and more. But i don't see how those things can be created into a room theme. Maybe if somebody has any ideas, that would be really great. Thanks!

Well what i would do to your room is move all your things around the wall and everything you use most you can just stick in the middle of the room. Get a good color to paint your wall, then if you have borders in your room already paint then a totaly different color then the wall. Then if you dont have borders you can buy some (i think i saw some at home depot.) Anywho then you just nail those borders in (around the top of the roof and in the down kinda middle of your wall) then take my furniture advice (move everything around the walls then only put the things you use most in the middle of the room.

Okay, I'm thirteen, almost 14 and have been redecorating my room, infact thats why I found this little topic. Anywho, I am a bit of a computer geek so I made my room center around my pc. If I were you, I would first rmove your desk (if you have one) and go to the thirft store, or maybe just pick up a small couch off the curb, put the couch where your desk/table was and then maybe buy a cheapo coffee table to put infront of the couch. Next you just decorrate that table however you want it! it will make your room seem a tab bit smaller, but it will look amazing. I know, my room is uber tiney but I love it anyways.

ps, I used the back seat of a van to sit on, fantastic!

To help provide more space in your bedroom, you may want to ask for a tall shelving unit. I had one where I kept all of my stuffed animals and most of my toys. You could possible put a TV & VCR (I had my stereo) on it. This will keep these things off the floor, out of the way, but still in a place you can see and enjoy them. Also provides more space on your other dresser/table tops.

Use your closet to store things you use. Get rid of things you don't. It'll make a big difference on space.

If your 'rents ok it, I loved hanging things from my ceiling with push-pins. I used to hang any flowers that were given to me. I was a goth so I really liked the dark dead garden look it gave, lol. But it really was pretty I think.

I found that if I taped old used (Aol, etc) cd's on my closet and door with the shiney side facing out it looked really awesome. Other benefits to this are that it acts like a mirror and makes the room feel bigger, also if you get any sunlight in your room you'll love sunset/sunrise because it makes rainbows across the CD's, it's awesome. (I made a loop w/ the tape and used two or three loops per CD, this way you don't see the tape... my dad said it would ruin the walls, there wasn't ANY difference when I took them all down about 2 years later.)

I hang almost ALL of my clothes and then use my dresser to store other things. No folding! and it makes it easier to find your clothes I think. I only keep socks and underclothes in one drawer.

I kept a folding chair in my closet that I swiped from my parents. It was out of the way when I didn't want it around, and always available when someone needed to sit.

Try pawning some of your stuff off onto closets in the rest of the house. For instance, I realized one day that all of our board games were kept in my closet. WHY? I put them all in the hall closet. Shoes, skates, hats, anything that can pass for a jacket... these can be explained away for being in a 'public' closet.

Hi,
I am eleven and I know how u feel. Why not try to pick a colour. Make sure that u dont pick pink when all of your stuff is green. I am a girl so I might put posters up and stuff on my walls and thing like that. But if u are male I am not 100% on what u would like. Basicly I say ask around at school go on to ur fave celebs websites and print out pics of them, buy posters and paint your room. Believe me it'll make a difference and isnt as costly as buying new everything. Remember a room makes a person. SO HAVE FUN WITH IT!

My husband is a Hot Wheels fanatic (has been collecting them since he was 8 years old), so it was only natural that we would be making our son's room in a Hot Wheels theme. We have bought hot wheel material and I am going to make curtains and a matching quilt (using some of the patterns in the materials for blocks on the quilt). We are planning on painting the walls the lightest blue in the fabric. Then we found a great idea for the walls. We are going to take "real" tires and paint tire tracks on the walls. Then we are going to create a car play area which can be used later as a desk/study area. For this we are planning on taking 13" car tires, painting them in colours found in the curtains, stacking them in threes and placing a painted plywood board on top. You could even go so far as to paint actual roads on top of the board. Another idea is to paint chalk board paint along the bottom portion of the walls in the room and paint road lines on them as well so that your child can run his cars along the bottom of the walls and draw with chalk without doing any real damage to the walls. Chalkboard paint comes in green and black.

Good luck.
Chris

Are you male or female? Do you have a specific theme you would like to use to decorate? If not, what is your favorite color? What are your interests? Is anyone (your mom, dad, older brother or sister) going to help with your redecorating? There are thousands, if not millions, of ideas so knowing the answers to these questions will help narrow the field.
