If you are moving long distance using a professional mover, try to make itemized list of what is in the boxes. We lost 9 boxes on our last move and lost money from insurance because we could not tell them exactly what was in each box.

I just helped a friend pack for a move with a big company. It was very organized the company gave the family a to do list and other hints. My friend and I came up with a better idea. Instead of writing everything down on paper which is a two man job we took digital camera pictures of important boxes.

With labeling on the box and a picture on hand which you can keep in the camera while you move or print out onto a disc ( at your local camera photo shop or your self on the computer if you have time, someone else can do it for you). This way you have a perfect photo of the lost items if it ever happens and it is usually dated as well. Less arguments with the moving and insurance companies.
