I am redecorating the living and dining rooms. The carpet in both rooms is called amber; but it is rust or copper penny in color. What wall and drapery colors will coordinate with this carpet?
There is a great deal of natural red oak wood trimming in both rooms. On one wall in the room, there is a built in fire place flanked by two small case leaded windows on either side; but it is not wood-burning so it is not bricked. There are a few bricks in a taupe color; and the rest is basically plaster that is painted the same color as the existing wall color.

You could paint the walls a light neutral color such as pale beige or ivory. I would do chocolate brown draperies and the toss small amounts of color around in accessories; pillows, vases, etc in red, yellow and turquoise. We used to have an amber glow car so I know exactly the color of your carpet.
A soft peach would be pretty for the walls, and you could accent with barn red/pale yellow. Beige or soft white is always good and brings in light as well.
There is nothing prettier than navy, dark mustard and brick red accents on the walls, I had this in a wallpaper. It looked like the goldish mustard had been sponged on all over, and then there was a print on top of this that looked stencilled with the navy and brick. The gold tones are coming back strongly and you could paint with the walls with the lighter color then pick up the brick and navy maybe as a contrast. Your room will be beautiful!
