CelieAnn (Mini Dachschund)

CelieAnn is our 14 year old mini short haired dachschund. She given as a gift on Christmas day.

She is a sleeper for 80% of the day now, but take her outside and she sniffs EVERYTHING!

She is the love of our lives and she is getting noticably older and dependent on us, but we don't mind at all!

Peanut and Star

Peanut is 2 yrs old (black) and Star is 1 (torti).

They both came from foster cat care homes.

They love to sleep together and to be outside on their tieouts. They run and chase each other and cuddle on my husband's wheelchair when he's in bed.

Today's Tips

Replenishing Cleaning Wipes

I had a bunch of those baby wipes left over from who knows when. They were still moist and unopened. I ran out of those cleaning wipes that clean just about any surface in your kitchen or bathroom, but there was still lots of the liquid in the container when the swips had finished. YOU GUESSED IT! I loaded the container with those baby wipes and had a good new supply of wipes which I use daily! It cost me pennies, because I had purchased the wipes at a 99cent store. When I finished with the wipes, I washed and dried the container to store my paint brushes and things in! Clean, cheap and organized....all in one!!! Just call me Frugal Felicia

Using Entertainment Book on Vacation

Hi! When my family chooses a vacation destination, I go online and order an Entertainment Book for that area, we save a lot of money by using Entertainment book coupons for the best restaraunts and area attractions, it also lets us plan things we want to do in advance because its like a guide to the area! If you wait until February/March to order the book, often they are on sale.

Remembering Where You Parked

When I get out of my vehicle, I look for the entrance to the store. It is to the right of me, that's where it is when I exit the store (to the right of me) provided I don't come out another exit.

Not Buying Scratch Tickets Helps Pay Off Debts

For every day I don't buy a scratch-off lottery ticket, I put the $2 I would have spent on it, and put it into an envelope and as it builds up I take it and apply it to a debt. It seems like found money and feels great making the payments

Cleaning Fingerprints from Mirrors

Mirrors get so dirty fast especially with fingerprints OR if you have kids who love using crayons and other stuff on them. What I find that works wonders is baby wipes. They seem to get almost anything off mirrors. I use them for a lot of things, to clean sneakers, mirrors, shoes, etc. It must have some good strong ingredient and NO it doesnt stain the mirrors, in fact it leaves them smelling good to boot!

Quick Get Together Snack

The other night we had friends stop by unannounced so I really had no munchies around, all I had was 2 avocado's, salsa and ranch dressing, I threw all of those - about a cup of each, plus a pinch of garlic salt in the blender and served with tortilla chips, It was so delicious!! Hope you try and enjoy!!

Alternative Copper Cleanser

If you run out of copper cleanser, just use leftover hotsauce. Frank's works great, but so does Taco Bell's Fire sauce. Watch the tarnish disappear like magic!

Name Tag Ideas for Clothes

I'm a foster parent and when children come into my home they sometimes come with a bag of clothing. I also have to spend a certain dollar amount each month buying them brand new clothes. When they leave my home I have to make sure they take all the clothes they came with plus any I have bought for them.

I'm looking for ways to put their names on the clothing. I dont want to mark directly on the fabric and ordering special embroidered name tags don't work for me since some kids only stay a short time. Maybe some ideas on what type of pen or fabric to use that will last and not fall apart in the wash?

Inexpensive Party Favors

My brothers and I are throwing my mom a suprise party for her 60th birthday. There will be about 50-60 people attending. I need to think of some inexpensive party favors for people to take home with them. The colors for the party are light pink, lavender, and pearl. I need something that will go a long ways, and preferably NOT a food item (there will be enough food at the party).

Thanks so much,

Stripping Oak Furniture

I have an oak bureau that is painted white. I would like to strip it. I need to know how to remove the paint from the wooden knobs and also the brass keyholes (they don't look like I can remove them). I also need to know what to do with it once I strip it and what is the best stripping method. I will be doing it in a small bathroom with no windows, only a ceiling vent and fan.

Thanks in advance,
Kathie from South Portland, Maine

Dog Urinating at Friend's House

I have a male, neutered labrador dog. He will be 2 in April. He has been house trained since he was 10 weeks old and has never had a problem since. I take him to friends houses quite frequently who have dogs, but last night he urinated twice inside a friends house. Once on my friend's bed pillow that he had knocked off the bed and for a second time on my friend's dog bed that he has for his male golden retriever. He has been around this dog and at this house several times and has never done this. Any ideas or suggestions as to why he would do this? He had been out to use the restroom and did about 2 hours before that.

Thanks!

Amie from Grand Prairie, TX

Kitchen Pantry - A Cook's Secret Weapon
By Ronald Yip

Doing any job is easier when you have the right tools on hand. One of a cook's best tools -- and secret weapons -- is having a well-stocked kitchen pantry.

Cooking is much simpler if you know that you've already got what you need on hand, and aren't going to have to run to the corner market every time you want to fix a meal.
