Fresh Coconut Has Chemical Smell Does anyone know why a coconut would smell something like a cleaning product when it is opened? I recently bought one. It is full of milk and white meat, but smells chemically. By Doug S. from Galveston, TX Post Feedback: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf17123384.tip.html

Rate It: Crab Casserole Recipe from Chinese Buffet I have been to King Wok Buffet and I love their Cheesy Crab bake. But I don't know what the sauce is. I know it is imitation crab meat, red onions, red and green peppers, with mozzarella cheese on top. But what is the creamy sauce? The above contests are weekly. We pick 2 tip winners, 2 photo winners (1 photo and 1 pet photo) and 1 recipe winner at the end of each week. Each winner will win $25!
I recently had a 'duh' moment. My homeworker was here and it was our cooking day that week. We were almost done, the only meat left out of what I set out, was a one pound roll of hamburger. I had not planned anything special for it, so I told her to just brown it, drain it, and put in freezer. I could use it at a later time when she wasn't around. Then the 'duh' came, why not do this more often. I can use it for BBQ, soup, pasta, etc. when I needed to fix my own full meal. I would have some on hand, ready to use on the nights my 14 year old granddaughter is here and wants to fix supper. She likes to make Hamburger Helper type meals, so now it will be easy when I set it out to thaw for that night. Sometimes it takes awhile to realize the simplest ideas. Set Up A Week's Coffee On Sunday Night Save time by setting your weekly morning coffee up Sunday night. Just fill up seven coffee filters with your favorite grounds. Then stack the coffee filters on top of each other and place them inside an empty coffee can with a sealable lid. In the morning, just pull out a pre-filled filter, add water to your pot and serve to taste. By florida gal from Spring Hill, FL

For your cilantro to last longer, put them with the roots in a cup or container of tap water and leave it on the kitchen window sill. Take a sheet of newspaper or paper towel, damp it and wrap the cleaned cilantro and put it in a plastic bag and keep in the fridge. Clean and dry the cilantro and put it in a sealed lunch box. Wash, dry and chop and put in freezer container and it will last longer. Put it in blender with different herbs and pour in ice cube trays and freeze when you need it, take a cube and add to your curry or soups. By Dorty from SA Contest Contender!

Directions:Wash off the chicken pieces, shaking off the water but not drying thoroughly and place in a large bowl. Cover the pieces heavily with all 4 seasonings. With your hands, and with the chicken still in the bowl, rub the seasonings into the pieces. Cover bowl and place in refrigerator for at least 1 hour. (Better overnight) Remove the chicken from the refrigerator and again rub the seasonings into the pieces. Heat approximately 1/2 inch of oil until hot, but not smoking in heavy skillet. Put flour in shallow bowl. Dredge each pieces in flour and then place in the hot oil. Brown the pieces until golden. For moist chicken, turn down heat to low; cover skillet and continue frying for approximately 45 minutes, turning occasionally. For crisp chicken, after browning, remove pieces from skillet and pile in a 9x13 inch pan. Pour oil from skillet into the chicken so oil covers bottom. Bake, uncovered, in 350 degrees F oven for approximately 45 minutes. Serve. By Robin from Washington, IA Post Feedback: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf21736745.tip.html
