How about cancelled postage stamps on the outside of the bottle, then decopaged and then sealed with Mod Podge it goes on white then dries clear (you can get it at any craft store Hobby Lobby etc., maybe even Walmart) good luck great idea.

You could also decorate it with glitter stickers found at any dollar store. My dollar store also has inspirational stickers: Hope, peace, dream, etc. I found these in the scrapbook section. These would be great on a message in a bottle, if it were for a friend or business associate.

Tip: Message in a Bottle Gift Idea

This is a nice romantic gesture for a husband or boyfriend. Supplies needed:

1 bottle (you can use a wine bottle or champagne but really any bottle will do just soak off any label)

Then you could decorate it with a little craft paint. Stars or hearts are nice.

1 nice piece of paper to write your message on. This could be a nice love poem that you have written or have copied for them. It also could just be a letter of appreciation telling them how much you love them.

1 piece of satin ribbon

Write your message on your paper.

Hot glue the ribbon on the back horizontally. Now tightly roll up your message leaving the long end of your ribbon on top. You might want to tape your letter closed to keep it tight. Put your letter into the bottle leaving the piece of ribbon hanging out. Replace cork or cap. The ribbon will make it a lot easier to remove the message. Fill a small bowl with sand and place your bottle at an angle and cover lower half with sand. Put it in a place they will most likely find it. Sit back and watch the surprise!

RE: Message in a Bottle Gift Idea

We did messages in a bottle for graduation gifts. Had like 20 people to give gifts to. These were very appreciated and cost about $1.50 each. Found a place online to order a large amount of bottles.
