Today's Tips
Problem getting infants and toddlers to sit upright in restaurant highchairs and booster seats? Do they slide off the swings because of their tiny hinies? Take some of the contact paper designed in the honeycomb weave made out of a rubber like material. They make this so glasses and dishes will stay put. Cut out a 12" x 12" square and put it in your diaper bag. No more slips and spills. Better still is that if it gets gross you have a whole roll at home for a few dollars. Good luck parents, and keep those bottoms safe ;)

Do you have an excess of fresh strawberries? Clean them up and freeze them. When you have time, defrost them and make homemade strawberry ice cream using an ice cream maker. So delicious. Happy eating.

Remembering To Turn Your Lights Off
If you're anything like me, my memory fails me quite often. On a rainy day I choose to drive with my headlights on but often forget to turn them off. On older model cars you do not get a reminder bell, so I simply turn the lights on and immediately lock my driver's door. When I go to get out of my car and realize the door is locked, it sparks my memory to turn the lights off. Sounds crazy, but it works!

Keeping Eggs from Sticking to the Styrofoam Carton
Have you ever bought eggs from the cooler in the store and by the time you get home they are sweating, then you put them in the fridge and they stick to the styrofoam carton? Well, when you get home take them out of the styrofoam and put them in a cardboard egg carton that you have saved. The cardboard egg carton won't have the sticking problem.

Easter Egg Hunting The Easy Way
All year, I secretly save up little trinkets from the dime machine, or the quarter machine, and store them away for Easter.
By the time Easter comes around you have a big stash of already filled "Easter eggs" and can put them in a little basket you make or buy. I also save the grass from one year to the next. It is virtually indestructible.
The grass can also be hung on a little "branch tree" with a little plastic Easter egg closed over a string of grass so it hangs from the branch. You can paint or glitter the little Easter eggs or just leave them as they are. Just a little extra excitement. Make sure you find all the little Easter eggs, the lawn mower does not like them at all.
These make excellent Christmas tree decorations also. A stocking full of these are cute to get, and they are so fun!

Mix together:
1 cup cider vinegar
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Then add 1 banana peel
Cut a large hole in a gallon milk jug and add the mixture.
Hang the jug from the fruit tree before flowers appear and enjoy the bug free fruit. We have used this for 3 years, and have trees drooping with fruit. A wonderful no spray way to go.

Ever try to make frozen orange juice and you chop and chop at the petrified block of frozen orange concentrate? Well, the trick is to let the concentrate thaw in your refrigerator overnight. Simply take it out of your freezer and place it in the fridge the night before, then in the morning, you can have great-tasting orange juice without the hassle or mess.

I have a pal who carries a phone book in her car, for those times when she needs a city map, phone numbers, or restaurant coupons. I'd never thought of carrying one in my car, I just have certain phone numbers in my purse, in case of emergency. But hers is a great idea!

Washing Knives in the Dishwasher
Never get stuck by a knife again! When loading your dishwasher, place your sharp knives in the very back silverware space. This way you'll always know where they are and never reach in and get cut again.

Feedback: Buying a New Car? Take Your Time!
I had an x-car salesman tell me that after the homework has been on to purchase the car you want, go to your chosen dealer the last Friday of the month about 30 minutes before closing time. You'll get the deal YOU want, not what the dealer wants.

Feedback: Looking for Meatloaf Recipe
This is my favorite Meatloaf Recipe:
SLOW-COOKED MEATLOAF
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
2 slices day-old bread, cubed
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1/4 cup ketchup
Parsley (optional)
(optional)
8 medium carrots, cut into 1-inch chunks
8 small red potatoes
In a bowl, beat egg and milk. Stir in the bread cubes, onion, green pepper, salt and pepper. Add the beef and mix well. Shape into a round loaf (or whatever shape your crockpot is, I have one that is oval). Place in a 5-qt. slow cooker. If you are adding the vegetables, arrange the carrots around the loaf. Peel a strip around the center of each potato; place potatoes over carrots. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low: cover and cook 7-8 hours longer or until meat is no longer pink and the vegetables are tender. You have to drain the grease at least once maybe twice. If you are pushed for time, you can cook on continuous high for 3-4 hours. On the last hour spread ketchup on top of the loaf, then sprinkle parsley over the top to suit your taste.

I have noticed the same thing with the front loaders. I have a water softener and done all of the suggestions above, like bleach, borax, pine sol and baking soda. Stood there by the washer as the machine was done spinning and placed them into the dryer. I still found the smell. The only thing that I have found is leave the door open a bit to get fresh air in the drum, when you are done with the laundry. Let the wash drum dry between wash weeks. It appears that the washers hold water somewhere and the water turns sour and stinky. In turn the next item to be placed in the washer smells bad. I suggest leaving the door open a bit and let the the drum dry, and see what happens. I have noticed that the smell is gone. Best of luck

Not a craft tip, but if you stick a bread tab under the end of a roll of tape you'll never have trouble finding the end or starting the roll again.

Feedback: Ideas for Diaper Gifts?
I've given several showers and my favorite idea is having each guest write one or several cute, sentimental, or funny notes on a diaper. In the middle of the night when you're up changing the baby's diaper it's nice to be reminded that others are thinking of you.

Need to Contact the George Foreman Grill Manufacturer
I am looking for the address of the George Foreman company to make an inquiry about a grill repair. The only thing I get on Google, are stores that sell the product. I received one as a wedding present, used it once, and the only thing that works now is the timer. I don't have the box and would like to continue to use it. If it's just a part, then I'll get it repaired. I need somewhere to call so we can do some troubleshooting. Thanks.

Dog has Horrible Spreading Hot Spots and Skin Smells Like Bleach When Bathing
My yorkie/poodle 10 yr old dog starting getting hot spots about a year ago. It is destroying his life, his skin, his fur and I don't know what to do. I have tried used tea bags, still working on that. Maybe it takes time.
The vet used to give him cortisone injections but it barely worked at all and only for about 2 days. I don't know how my dog even sleeps, poor thing. I have always kept him healthy, he's strong, active, and on Frontline for fleas. At one time the frontline seemed to stop working so i took him off for a month, put him on Advantage, that didn't work well and now he's back on Frontline. But he still has a small case of fleas.
I think that is causing him to chew at his back and have red skin and lose hair. All of his life he was flealess. Now I can't seem to figure out what is going on. Here is the strange thing!! I know that fleas when dying may have a slight odor. But when I give him a bath and I have tried baby shampoo, oatmeal, and other shampoos, his skin starts to bother him. He whimpers so I just pour more water on him to comfort him. He loves to be warm... But I have noticed every time that the lather of soap has a very unpleasant bleach smell, almost that of gasoline.
As soon as he is bathed and brushed and pretty he goes back at his skin and looks like a dirty mangled up mess. He knots up his hair from excessive CHEWING.
Can somebody tell me what is going on?! This dog is my baby, and this time I don't have any way of helping him. I have a feeling that baths now hurt him. Sorry about the drawn out problem. Just thought all those details were important.

Safari Decor: Accents with An African Theme
I just bought an amazing elephant painting for my family room. I'm planning on painting the room a rust color (I think). I'm not very imaginative, so I'd appreciate some ideas on making some inexpensive, but sophisticated-looking accents for my room that will play off the African feel of the painting. Nothing over the top (it's not my style). Thanks a bunch!

Cleaning and Storing your Dutch Oven
By Glea Reno and Dennis Reno
There are many opinions on cleaning a Dutch Oven. Not all Dutch Oven cooks believe you can use soap in your Dutch Oven. Some cooks suggest never to wash them, others wash them, but not with detergent. We have found that a well-seasoned oven will not be damaged by using a few drops of dishwashing soap if you have been cooking something really greasy. Just be sure to rinse several times to make sure there is no soap residue. If your oven is not well- seasoned, whatever you put in the oven will be absorbed into the pot and become part of your next meal.
