RE: Is Beneful Dry Dog Food Being Recalled? By trchsngr (2) Contact Beneful Dog food cost me $1300.00 in Vet fees. My Boston Terrier became severely lethargic and ran a temp of 106 after 2 days on Beneful. Then my 100 lb. Shar-Pei/Lab mix did the same thing a day later. The only thing different in their routine was the Beneful. They had to spend the weekend in the Animal hospital and get IV fluids and antibiotics. Docs sed they weren't sure of cause, but after reading these posts, I am. I returned the dog food to Sam's and got a refund, but sure would like to get help with the vet cost. By jayes (1) Contact I had been feeding my great Dane beneful for quite sometime and around Christmas. he started getting sick walmart hasn't been carrying it, so we switched dog foods and he got well then last night I found a bag of beneful and gave him one bowl and two hours later he was sick again will not be feeding him that beneful again. (Guest Post) My dogs have been eating beniful for quite some time. However recently November 08 my male became very sick. He had lethargy, glazed eyes and trouble standing. He refused to eat. The vet said he had a swollen liver as well. We got him on meds and began feeding him chicken, beef, and bread. He made a recovery. THE DAY WE GAVE HIM beniful dry food with his meat, rather then bread, he began throwing up and diarrhea. BEWARE! By mulberry204 (614) Contact FDA Announces Major Pet Food Recall Updated: Sep 16, 2008 07:56 PM EDT Several brands of dog food are being recalled for possible salmonella contamination. The affected food was made between February 18 and July 29, 2008. Several popular brands are affected, including Pedigree, Ol' Roy and Members Mark, which is the Wal-Mart store brand. Specific product details and other information can be found here. Las Vegas Petsmart's were not affected because they pulled the products off the shelves. A list of safe pet food handling tips can be found here. Albertson's has already pulled affected brands. Anyone with a contaminated bag may return it to Albertsons for a refund. By MNgal (3) Profile Contact The web-site urbanlegends.com shows many, many stories of dogs becoming ill, but didn't officially state there was a recall. On snopes.com the official answer was "undetermined", which leads me to believe there are valid arguments against feeding this food to your fur-baby.
