Tip: Remove Home Address From Luggage

If you have your home address written on your luggage tag, it's best to remove it. It's become more common these days that criminals are stashing illegal items in people's luggage, then keeping the home addresses in order to retrieve those items later.

Saving on Lotion (Hubby Style)I went into the bathroom looking for hand lotion a few minutes ago. DH and I use baby lotion and shampoo so we don't dry up and blow away. We had a bottle of baby lotion close to the bottom which I had turned upside down. I discovered DH had cut a 'door' in the side of the bottle so we could reach in for those few remaining drops. Now that ain't thrifty, that is stingy!

Cans Can Do So Many ThingsI eat a lot of the larger Campbell's chicken noodle soup (in the 25% more cans) and mandarin oranges from The Dollar Tree. While prepping them for recycling today, it hit me. The bigger one could be a lid for the smaller one.

Don't Toss Plastic LidsI love seafood salad. I got some the other day and after a few forkfuls, promptly lost the lid. I could have used a cottage cheese container but ran the risk of forgetting what was inside. There was not a painters tape roll to be found for labeling, so I came up with the next best thing. By using the lid on their store containers, I see what is inside but still keep it fresh.

It's legs were shorter than today's models so the heating element was closer to the countertop surface. Saving Water at HomeWater, being such a valuable resource, should never be wasted. When running the faucet to get hot water, collect the water in a bucket or cut-up gallon milk bottle. We live in a small house and we can fill two, gallon milk jugs of water before the water is hot.

Improved Totes WarrantyI like buying products with lifetime warranties, such as Totes umbrellas. The last time I had to use the warranty, I had to mail back the entire umbrella, plus a $5 check to cover postage for the return umbrella. They have changed their policy for the better.

Make Your Own Knife SheathsA good knife is a sharp knife. However, knives can cut you if not stored properly. I make my own knife sheaths out of cardboard. You can use packing materials, cereal boxes or any other cardboard. Cut to size and tape edges shut.

One Armed DressingMy left shoulder was broken so I cut the left strap neatly at the front bottom edge where it joins to the cup. I attached two sticky back Velcro strips about 2 inches long, one to the inside of the strap and the other to the outside of the cup. I took the Velcro strips off when I laundered the bra and stuck them back on later.

Repairs with Duct TapeI have a plastic (not fiberglass) tub in my 1973 mobile home. It is cracked and water leaks out underneath. After trying several other ways to fix the cracks that didn't work, in desperation, I tried clear duct tape. It worked! Now all the cracks are sealed and no more leaks.

Saving Money on Dental VisitsMedical is some of our most costly expenses and since dental visits aren't always covered by many insurances (nor by Medicare), folks sometimes don't go to their dentist every 6 months. I am not encouraging this. It's just a FACT.
