These grow wild in my yard, they are so beautiful and they close up somewhat in the day and then open up at night. They last longer than a day when in water and grow very long!

Once you have these you cannot get rid of them. They come up everywhere. I pull and pull every year and cannot get rid of them. So beware before you plant, they are very invasive. I didn't plant mine, they came from seed from my neighbors plants.
I thought these were deadly nightshade. I do think they are pretty, but berries are extremely toxic. I also pull them and pull them and they are invasive.

They are amazing because they have qualities that help detoxify the ground from lead and copper, etc. They bio-accumulate.
I just like them for their beauty. I have a fondness for wildflowers that grow like this one does, I have Morning Glories, they will take over worse than these will. Some consider these Asiatic Dayflowers to be noxious, and consider them weeds. I do not, I am so grateful to have them blooming in my yard. I do keep the animals away from them though.
One interesting thing about these flowers are that they can take up lead and other dangerous toxins from old sites that used to mine lead and other dangerous minerals and hold th em in their own plant stems and leaves. We should keep them in mind, for they do help the Earth that way! Another reason I like them is that they keep the temperature around them cooler.
They have taken over much of my yard but are very easy to pull up. They are invasive but easier to manage than the other weeds I finally eliminated from my yard.
I discovered these little faces growing in my unused garden box alongside one of my ever-over growing Vines of white flowers. Do far unnamed. With the death of honeybees & birds in Indiana; I'm very pleased to have these beauties identified and growing as a sanctuary for bees, dragonflies, butterflies & of course my cherubic birds. They're growing with my tomato plants & miracle grow potting soil.
