Baking from the Discount Grocery Shelf

Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 190 Posts

finished cookiesI recently started checking the discount shelves at my local supermarkets. I have found some really good savings from time to time. Earlier this year I picked up a couple of bags of Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix. On another trip they were discounting Andes mint chips. These products sat around in the cupboard for awhile until I had a sweet tooth attack and made a small batch of cookies.

Both products were half price; 75 cents for the cookie mix and $1.50 for the bag of chips of which I only used a quarter cup. The only other things I had to add were two tablespoons of water and 1/2 stick of butter. Now while the cookies were clearly not a required food purchase, but they did provide me with a small snack to be spread over several days. Not bad.
