Brooch Pin from U-Shaped Hairpin

Silver Answer Medal for All Time! 440 Answers

A hairpin that has been reshaped into a brooch pin back.I do a lot of DIY projects to make inexpensive brooches, but to make these projects even cheaper, I suggest you DIY brooch pins too. Of course you can use wire, but we don't always have wire of suitable thickness and strength. I noticed that a hairpin is perfect for this and I decided to share this idea with you.

Total Time: 15 Minutes

Supplies:

Steps:

  1. Make a loop where the hairpin is bent: pull the wire ends around crochet hook or round nose pliers so that they are parallel with each other. This will be the hinged end of the brooch pin.
  2. Bending the hairpin around a round tube.

  3. Bend one end of the wire 90 degrees and make a loop to avoid sharp edges (see photo). Cut off excess wire.
  4. Creating the brooch pin shape from a hairpin.

  5. Bend the loop formed to form the catch section of the pin.
  6. At the other end of the wire (hairpin) cut the longer length to be slightly longer than the catch section of the pin. File the end.

For the pin to serve for a long time and to be stainless, you can cover the wire with metal varnish.
  7. The completed brooch pin.
