Burning Itchy Feeling from Ingrown Hair?

I've had what appears to be an ingrown hair around my pubic area. Water and creams have been helping. However now, it's gotten red and really really itchy. My doctor won't be able to see me, is it severe enough to go to the ER? According to what I've read online, theres not much a doctor can give me other than antibiotics. Anyone know anything about this embarrassing problem?

You can put some tea tree oil on it. I would not go to the emergency room.
