Suckers of my cassia tree are springing up all over the yard including between cracks in sidewalk, what to do?

I use Roundup using a Q-Tip to paint a small amount on the leaves. It's tedious but works and doesn't affect the adjacent grass. You might have to do it 2-3 times. Not because it doesn't kill the tree but because others germinate later and/or are too small to see the first time.

my extension agent says to cut and paint the stem with a brush of full strength roundup in the fall. (As my grandfather says the sap is going down). obviously the sap takes the poison with it. This has to be done within 90 seconds after cutting the small tree or large bush (paint around the base too) as the cells close up and you want the roundup to do this while the cells are open after the cut.
